As a student at UNH, sometimes your classroom isn’t actually a classroom… this time it was Acadia National Park. ⛰️ Over the weekend a group of undergraduate and graduate students from our Earth Sciences Sedimentology class traveled to Acadia National Park. Led by professors Joel Johnson and Jo Laird, this group of students used a geologic map to explore the island. They visited 8 outcrop sites (or rock formations), including Cadillac Mountain and Sand Beach. 🌊 Through identifying the rocks, the students were able to put together a story of what took place geologically at Mount Desert Island over time. With these skills, students can understand the geologic history along the coast and predict how it will change in the future. 🪨 #unh #unhceps #unhstudents #unhwildcats
