From UNH business grad and standout quarterback to national championship head coach? 🏈 Ryan Day ’02 will lead the Ohio State Buckeyes against the Notre Dame Fighting Irish in Monday’s College Football National Championship. Now in his sixth season as head coach, Day is aiming to guide the Buckeyes to their first title since 2014. A win wouldn’t just be Day’s first championship—it would also be historic. This season marked the debut of the 12-team playoff format, making this the longest and toughest road to a title in college football history. Day grew up in Manchester, NH, and was a standout quarterback for the Wildcats. He holds multiple team records as a three-year starter. He earned his degree in Business Administration and credits his UNH education with equipping him with the skills needed for his coaching success. “When I think about the job that I do now, there’s all those things mixed in. There’s budgeting, there’s public relations and crisis management, and motivating people,” Day says. “There’s just a lot that comes with it, and I think the overall broad scope of what I learned in the business school has allowed me to take some of those skills to the workplace.” Joining him on the sidelines is offensive coordinator Chip Kelly ’90, another UNH football great who made his mark as both a player and a coach. Here's to two Wildcats showing what's possible with a UNH foundation! 🏆
