More than 50 years ago, Fred Rogers-creator and host of Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood (and Latrobe native)-recognized the immense potential of television for educating young children in ways that support their social and emotional development. In 2000, he began to collaborate with Saint Vincent College to lay the groundwork for promoting the benefits of applying child development principles to all media for children.
