Named after Bishop Holland McTyeire, who was instrumental to the founding of Vanderbilt, Bishop's Commons sits at the intersection of academic life for many Commodores taking classes in the College of Arts and Science, the School of Law, or the Owen Graduate School of Management. Amid its gorgeous trees and winding paths reside Benson, Calhoun, Garland, and Furman halls. Whether it's a debate over the classics, economic theory, or the role of religion in public life, one can assume there's almost always an invigorating conversation taking place in these buildings. Because of Nashville's amazing weather, you may also see classes taking place outside on the area's picturesque lawns.
