The prestigious Rutgers School of Law-Newark and the School of Criminal Justice are both located in the Center for Law and Justice.

Founded in 1908, the Rutgers School of Law-Newark is the oldest law school in the State of New Jersey. Considered among the ""Best Law Schools for Public Interest," we are incredibly proud to have had Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg as a former law professor. The Center for Public Service is home to the School of Public Affairs and Administration, known as SPAA. Boyden Hall

Boyden Hall houses our biology and applied sciences programs. The Biology Learning Center offers students a place to work independently on lab assignments with supportive faculty close by.

While much of the building is dedicated to the biological sciences, physics students can be found on the roof in the wee hours of the morning, preparing for classes and lectures. The rooftop observatory features a 12-inch telescope with a built-in digital camera for optimal stargazing. Our observatory supports student research, academic interests, and anyone curious to explore the spiraling corners of the cosmos.

Aidekman Research Center

Housed in Aidekman Hall is the Center for Molecular and Behavioral Neuroscience - an interdisciplinary research center at the forefront of neurology and brain health. Home to the Rutgers University Brain Imaging Center (RUBIC), this state-of-the-art MRI facility enables researchers and students to explore the inner workings of the human brain. Students gain hands-on experience in neuroplasticity, neuro-brain development, perception, motor control, learning, and memory while researching diseases such as Parkinson's, Alzheimer's, Huntington's, and schizophrenia. Throughout the school year, students and faculty work with the African American Alzheimer's Awareness and Brain Health Initiative to develop educational and memory fitness programs to promote cognitive vitality in the greater Newark community.

Life Sciences Buildings 1 & 2

Our Life Sciences Buildings I and II are the flagship of our STEM academics and science resources and facilities. We have several science laboratory spaces and classrooms that students make full use of for study and research. Labs feature state-of-the-art equipment – such as motion-sensor laboratory hoods that react to the presence of chemicals in the air or even someone standing in front of it. This helps conserve energy while still maintaining the highest safety standards. The lowest level of the building also features three nuclear magnetic resonance labs, allowing our students to explore the molecular building blocks that form the foundation of our universe.

Golden Dome

The Golden Dome Athletic Center is home of the Scarlet Raiders! This geodesic dome is an iconic landmark of Rutgers University–Newark and the main sports arena. The Golden Dome Athletic Center houses 14 Division III sports, a full slate of intramural sports, and semester-long recreation classes. It features a 7,000-square-foot fitness center, a 25-yard swimming pool, 5 composition surface tennis courts, 2 racquetball courts, a dance/exercise studio, a conference area, and locker rooms. Regardless of the sporting or campus event, the Golden Dome Athletic Center is always filled with the clapping hands and enthusiastic cheers of our dedicated fans and students.

Blumenthal Hall is our central student services building. Inside is the Student Services Mall, which features the MyRUN one-stop center, the offices of financial aid, the registrar, the payment center, and other key departments. You'll also find the full-service Rutgers–Newark Health and Wellness Center and Counseling Center here.

Our team of student service experts is dedicated to providing students and families with the quickest and easiest access to campus resources and information. They help answer questions on student experience, tuition bill payment, scholarships, registration, dining, student life, and much more.

48 New Street Residence Hall is our newest living environment. Opened in fall 2021, it includes state-of-the-art dorms, classrooms, workspaces, and indoor parking. The Honors Living-Learning Scholars and other undergraduate students reside in this premier residence hall. Students are thrilled to have this contemporary residence hall to enjoy and learn in throughout their time at Rutgers University–Newark!

Our athletics field has been renamed to honor the revered 19th-century civil rights pioneer and scholar, Frederick Douglass. Located across the street from the Golden Dome, this facility is used by our Rutgers–Newark men's and women's Scarlet Raiders teams and numerous local community groups. The Scarlet Raider fans turn out for sporting events in the well-lit, large outdoor facility, which includes a Field Turf artificial surface and gives our NCAA Division III teams a year-round venue just steps away from classrooms and dormitories. Our community is proud of the Frederick Douglass Field's past and present as a historical site. Let's Go Scarlet Raiders!

Hill Hall is one of the largest academic buildings on campus. Most of the classrooms are the size of your typical high school classroom. You'll also find computer labs and the Newark Help Desk to help with any technology needs. Our Career Development Center (CDC) is also located here, offering career counseling and employment search services for internships, resume development, interview prep, and networking skills, plus access to career fairs events. CDC guides students as they transition from college to their first professional opportunity or graduate school experience.

Named after the boundary-breaking actor, singer, All-American athlete, and Rutgers alumnus, the Paul Robeson Campus Center and the Division of Student Affairs is the hub of student life at Rutgers University-Newark.

Get involved with student organizations, the campus newspaper, or the student run radio station. Hang in our student lounge or challenge a friend in the R-Zone game room. Grab a bite in the food court or Jon Bon Jovi Soul Kitchen, a coffee at one of our campus Starbucks, or pick up essentials at our campus convenience store. At the heart of campus is Norman Samuels Plaza, a vibrantly landscaped area furnished with relaxing Adirondack seating. Surrounded by the Robeson campus center, Dana library, and several academic halls, this expanse of lawn and trees is where students enjoy campus-wide activities and community events. Throw a Frisbee around, enjoy a picnic on the lawn, or meet with your study group.

Native species of plants and animals have returned to the area, and it's now a hotspot for biodiversity that draws more than 100 species of migratory birds - all documented in an annual "Bio Blitz" led by our biology professors.

Dana Library

Our treasured John Cotton Dana Library is one of 31 libraries and centers in the Rutgers University system. Dana Library houses an extensive collection of over 1.5 million items, acting as a federal depository since 1966. Aside from getting lost in the stacks of books, journals, reference and research materials, and media, the library offers group study rooms, computer labs, copy centers, and designated quiet spaces. Dana Library also features art gallery displays, the Newark Archives, and the world's largest and most extensive jazz archive. Woodward Lawn/Residence Halls

Many students live on campus their entire time at Rutgers University–Newark and find it easy to call it their home away from home!

Woodward Hall is a suite-style residence hall for undergraduate students. Residents participate in on-boarding programs such as peer social mixers, faculty-staff socials, time management, and other academic success workshops.

Upperclass students typically live in Talbott Apartments, an apartment-style residence hall featuring 4 single rooms with a living room, bathroom, and kitchen. All are super close to our main dining hall on campus.

We also offer a number of specialty housing options, like the quiet floor or gender-neutral housing, that complement students' interest and living needs.

Stonsby Commons and Eatery

Students enjoy all-you-care-to-eat dining in a contemporary setting at Stonsby Commons and Eatery. Located near everything on campus, it offers new and freshly made menu items daily, innovative American entrees, ethnically inspired meal options, vegetarian selections, and more. The Commons also features upscale premium entrees and fresh baked goods from our in-house bakery and local vendors.

The 225-seat cafeteria is the main residential dining hall on campus and is open to all students, faculty, and staff. You can use a meal plan, Raider Dollars, or the pay-as-you-go option. Stonsby Commons also hosts movie nights, video-game tournaments, and a meeting area.

The building sits at 15 Washington Street and was renamed to honor esteemed jurist, civil rights icon, and former Rutgers law professor, Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg.

Take in a free, live jazz concert at Clem's Place, our campus jazz club, or attend an event in our impressive Great Hall. There are also seminar and study rooms as well as lounges, exercise studios, and communal spaces for residents of the building.
