Welcome to Horace Mann School. HM was founded by Nicholas Murray Butler in 1887 as a coeducational experimental and developmental unit of Teachers College, Columbia University. Today, HM is home to 1,790 students ages three through eighteen in Nursery through twelfth grades, on four different campuses. This is Spence Cottage, home to our Head of School, and to the Admissions Office for Grades 6-11. Before we get started, let me explain how to use this Virtual Tour so you can get the most out of your visit. -You can click on the front facing arrow to start walking around our campus. -You can also jump to the next stop by clicking on the Next Stop button. -If you already know where you want to go, you can select any location by using the list or by clicking directly on the map. -You can explore any particular location by clicking on the supplemental icons. Enjoy your visit to HM, and make sure you make a stop at our John Dorr Nature Lab, too!
