Welcome to Augsburg University! Located in the vibrant heart of Minneapolis, Minnesota, Augsburg is home to a diverse community of more than 3,000 students. Be Where You Belong

At Augsburg, you belong. With over 50 student organizations- from our Accounting Club and Mental Health Matters Club to the Society of Physics Students and the Augsburg Chess Club- it's easy to get involved. We've got plenty of places to eat, study, and hang-out! You can play pool in the student lounge, get coffee and a bagel at the campus center, or grab a burger and fries from *Nabo*. Whether it's attending a movie or game night, participating in a Just Dance Tournament, going to "Queer Prom" or playing yard games in the Auggie Olympics, our Student Activities Council makes sure you'll always have something fun to do on campus.

Living on Campus

Living on Campus means finding your path, your people, and your place. Residence Life provides a comfortable, secure, and fun environment for all residential students. Four of Augsburg's five residence halls offer apartment-style living. We also offer Living Learning Communities, also known as LLC's. LLC's center around a distinctive theme or academic interest like Creative Arts, Leadership, or Global Living. Oren Gateway Center houses our StepUp collegiate recovery Program, one of the nation's oldest and most comprehensive programs for students in recovery. Our sober living residence hall provides a true college experience alongside a community of accountability and support.

At Augsburg, you're not just a number. Your professors are eager to get to know you, and they value every students' input and ideas. Our newest building, The *Hagfors* Center for Science, Business, and Religion, brings three unique fields into one collaborative space. Attending a Liberal Arts institution prepares you for diverse career paths. You'll have access to a wide range of classes: learn about the Science of Food in a state of the art cooking lab, take a class about Theology and Political Resistance, or explore the Twin Cities while studying Urban Sociology. Our curriculum provides a multi-faceted view of the world, enabling students to see beyond one perspective.

Hands-On Learning

Auggies learn by doing. The Augsburg Experience involves hands-on learning and focused reflection that leads to a stronger sense of your values and yourself. Every Augsburg student is required to complete one high-impact learning experience, and many students find these opportunities so beneficial that they do more than one. You can spend a semester canoeing from St. Paul to New Orleans down the Mississippi River. Or do research with a faculty mentor at Augsburg, or places like Harvard, Johns Hopkins, or Mayo Clinic. You could intern at a Fortune 500 company in the Twin Cities. Or study abroad, selecting from 90 different countries and exploring culture, people, and countryside.

Our Creative Arts Programs will give you the tools you need to pursue your passions and talents at any stage of your creative journey. Augsburg's Schwartz School of the Arts is a hub for music, theater, art, and design. Whether you're aiming for a career in the arts or simply want to explore, our creative arts community has a place for you. Our location makes it easy to take your creativity far beyond the classroom. You'll have opportunities to study with local actors and musicians, visit world-class museums, enjoy internships with professional arts organizations, and more.

Auggie Athletics

Augsburg is home to a proud tradition of Intercollegiate Athletics. Auggies compete at the Division 3 level of the NCAA, in the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference. We sponsor 22 sports: 12 for women and 10 for men. Augsburg has a history of firsts, including being the first college in Minnesota to sponsor women's ice hockey and women's wrestling. We've won 17 national championships: 14 in men's wrestling and 3 in men's ice hockey. Our school spirit is contagious, and Auggies create some of the best atmospheres in the MIAC. Our athletic facilities include an outdoor field that is used year round, ice-rinks, a gymnasium, wrestling room, and two fitness centers.

Intentional Diversity

The Augsburg experience is supported by an engaged community that is committed to intentional diversity in its life and work. More than half of our undergraduate student body is made up of students of color. Additionally, over 50% are first-generation students. Our Department of Multicultural Life ensures that students feel seen and empowered. Five programs (American Indian, Latinx, LGBTQIA+, Pan-Afrikan and Pan-Asian Student Services) are housed together in the Oyate Commons. Augsburg also celebrates the religious diversity of our students. Interfaith Scholars is a service learning opportunity where students can explore the religious diversity of the student body, the Twin Cities, and the United States through interreligious dialogue and action.

With a support team of faculty and staff dedicated to your success from the moment you are admitted, Augsburg is committed to providing the individualized supports that students need to thrive. This support extends to all areas of your wellbeing. Our Center for Wellness and Counseling offers free sessions with a mental health counselor. The Strommen Center supports students in all career related areas; whether you need help writing a resume, can't decide on a major, or want to set up an internship. And their services continue even after you graduate! In all areas of life, our faculty and staff will encourage you to be your best self.

Life in the City

Our campus in the heart of Minneapolis surrounds Murphy Square, the oldest park in the city. Bus routes and light rail transit conveniently unite Augsburg with the greater Twin Cities area. Take a stroll along the Mississippi River, hike nature paths, explore theaters and restaurants—all within walking distance of our close-knit campus. Living in the city means you can easily check out a Twins, Vikings, Wild, United, Lynx or Timberwolves game. You can go to a concert at First Avenue or spend a day at the Mall of America. We are lucky to be surrounded by vibrant communities, including the Cedar-Riverside, East Bank, Dinkytown, and Seward neighborhoods.
