Student Life and Athletics (Debbie) Stony Brook is an amazing place. There’s so much to do. We never get bored. There are events, fashion shows, parties, and comedy shows. (other girl voice) When you come to the information fairs, there are so many groups and activities that you can do, that you will never get bored of Stony Brook. (Mike) There is literally something to do every second that I am here. There are great events: Roth Regatta, Strawberry Fest, and Do It in the Dark. There is a lot of stuff sponsored by campus residences. I do intramural sports and I’ve done every intramural sport at this school because I like to stay active. There are open recreation hours, open court hours, and open pool hours. There is always stuff to do here. (Nicole) I am a Music minor. I’ve had lots of opportunities to perform with the acapella group on campus, and to just get involved with different student groups. It’s been a really great experience. (Marisa) I choose Stony Brook because it’s close to home and it’s a beautiful campus. When I came for my recruiting visit, everyone was really nice and very easy to get along with. So it was easy to choose somewhere where everyone is very welcoming. (boy) It’s really easy to interact at Stony Brook. There seems to be a common bond, whether it’s the classes or the work environment; everyone is very easy to approach, even the professors. So, it makes day to day interactions simple, and that’s a good thing when you’re trying to fit into someplace, it’s nice. (marching band) Hi, we are the Spirit of Stony Brook Marching Band and we are Seawolves and having a great time performing at all the games and performing at all our athletic and other student events here at Stony Brook. (Goba) I think one of the main reasons that I enjoy being on this team, is because I enjoy different personalities, and it is a different group of guys that come from different areas. So, having that on top of the family unit and learning different cultures, it is inspiring for me to know how players can come from different places and work as one unit. (Kirsten) We’re just like a big group of sisters. We do everything for each other. We are always around each other. We support each other during our lifts, because our lifts are very enduring and crazy. We just love each other. It’s a family atmosphere and that’s what I came here for. (Rick) The atmosphere of the NCAA was unbelievable. There was certainly a lot of excitement built up here during the week before, and the fact that we were hosting quarter finals and we were participating in it. And for the game to actually live up to the excitement… It was a wonderful experience and one that I hope to experience again sometime soon. (Alison) You know, you see our facilities, you see our stadium and our locker rooms, our state of the art scoreboard, Goldstein. You know this athletic department and our university cares about the well being of student athletes. (Chris) You can see by the marking that goes on, you can see by the exposure that we get, the coverage we get locally, what a neat place this is. And I think from my perspective, it’s been an awesome place to work. (Michael) We’ve got a great group of guys. We got about 8 or so guys on the team that are buddies on and off the field. We work really hard, you know, we goof around off the field but get serious when we are on the field. (Will) Well, the Red Zone kind of started by accident with me and a bunch of my friends. But, it basically exploded into this campus wide phenomenon. We’ve helped increase the attendance at games, we’ve increased the spirit and pride in the campus, and it’s been a great experience. (crowd) I’m a Seawolf.
