In the Pavement Lab, engineering students literally get their hands dirty as they prepare industry-standard asphaltic and portland cement concrete mix designs. This lab features a Superpave gyratory compactor as well as a bank of aggregate and cement conditioning ovens. Fast and accurate density measurements are made possible by a Corelok vacuum chamber. In addition to traditional hot-mix pavements, this lab also supports the design of environmentally-friendly warm-mix and porous pavements.
