The Traffic Engineering Laboratory is equipped with ten traffic-control design and analysis workstations. Students gain valuable, hands-on experience with the computer programs most commonly used by practicing traffic engineers including Synchro, SimTraffic, HCS, VISSIM and VISUM. A broad range of diverse traffic control and management technologies, known collectively as intelligent transportation systems (ITS), as well and mechanistic-empirical pavement design strategies, are modeled in this full-featured teaching and research lab.
