Welcome to the University of Southern Maine (USM) and our residential Gorham campus. Our Gorham campus is nestled in a charming New England village, eleven miles west of Portland, Maine's largest city. In addition to our residence halls, you will find our nationally-recognized NCAA Division III athletic teams and facilities, the USM art gallery, and performance spaces for music and theatre. This energetic, welcoming community buzzes with student activities, labs and classes, athletic events, music, entertainment, and plenty of fun.

Bailey Hall

Welcome to Bailey Hall, our campus hub for student support and academic resources! Here, you'll find the Library and Learning Commons, Advising, Admissions, IT, Financial Aid, Transfer Affairs, and the Office of Registration and Scheduling Services, along with several classrooms and cutting-edge laboratories, including an Aquaponics greenhouse. Bailey Hall is also our Metro stop for the Gorham Campus, connecting students with the Husky Line for easy commuting between campuses and downtown Portland. Students ride free on all METRO lines, allowing access to internships, work, shopping, and more!

Russell Hall

Russell Hall is the heart of the USM Theatre department. From the stage craft workshop, makeup and dressing rooms, and dedicated dance rehearsal space to the Main Stage and Black Box theater, captivating performances come to life at Russell Hall. Through wide-ranging productions, interdisciplinary collaborations, and community outreach, the USM Department of Theatre enriches the cultural and artistic life of Portland and the state of Maine.

Corthell Hall

Corthell Hall is home to USM's esteemed Osher School of Music. The Osher School of Music is a dynamic hub of artistic and educational activity. Guided by award-winning faculty members, students in the School of Music can pursue degrees in Music Education, Performance, Composition, Jazz Studies, Musical Theatre, and Piano Pedagogy. Students benefit from having the vibrant greater Portland arts scene at our doorstep as well as alumni in positions of music leadership throughout the country.

Robie Andrews Hall

Robie Andrews Hall houses students in one to four person rooms. Every room in Robie Andrews is unique in size and shape, and many have original hardwood floors. Large windows and wide hallways add to the hall's charm. The Art Department is also located in Robie Andrews Hall. Students in the art department participate in a rigorous studio experience in order to build the critical skills needed to become informed visual artists, art educators and art historians.

Upton-Hastings Hall

Upton-Hastings Hall hosts around three hundred first-year students in double-style rooms. The Hastings Lounge is the go-to spot for hall-wide events, it also features a large TV, comfy seating, and a kitchen. In Upton-Hastings students have easy access to Campus Card Services, the Mail Room, Health and Counseling services and the Residential Life office. Study spaces, lounges, and classrooms are conveniently located within steps of your dorm!

Brooks Student Center

Brooks Student Center connects students with our vibrant campus life through our Student Engagement and Leadership Office. With over 75 clubs and organizations including student government, event planning boards, and community service opportunities, there is something for everyone. It also hosts many events including local bands, comedians, and a USM student favorite, "PINGO" or Prize Bingo. Looking for something to eat? The top floor is home to Brooks Dining Hall, where students can enjoy locally sourced produce and unique dining stations. Dining services also offers nutritious and flexible meal plan options to meet specific dining needs.

Woodward and Anderson Hall

Woodward Hall and Anderson Hall are two residence halls nestled in the heart of our campus. Here students find comfort in double-style rooms and enjoy the inviting lounge areas and dedicated study spaces. Anderson Hall is also proud to house our esteemed Honors Program residents. Surrounded by a community of like-minded peers, Honors Program students thrive in an environment tailored to academic excellence and intellectual growth.

Costello Sports Complex

The Costello Sports Complex is a state of the art facility equipped to support the needs of all students - including our NCAA Division III athletes and those looking to stay active through the fitness center or intramural sports. The Field House features a six lane, two hundred meter track for Indoor Track and Field events, as well as tennis and basketball courts. Head upstairs and you will find our Hill Gym, fitness center and weight room, including our multipurpose rooms that host classes like Zumba, Bootcamp, Step, Kettlebell, Yoga, and more.

Outdoor Athletic Facilities

USM's outdoor athletic facilities play host to a number of fall and spring sports. Hannaford Field is one of the newest additions to the University of Southern Maine's athletic facilities. The 93,000-square foot field features a new Field Turf® surface and serves as home field for USM's men's and women's soccer, field hockey, and men's and women's lacrosse teams. You will also find Ed Flaherty Field, home to the university's two-time National Champion Baseball team, and a state of the art softball complex.

Ice Arena

USM's Ice Arena is the only Olympic-sized rink in the state. It is home to our men's and women's ice hockey teams as well as other community leagues and public open skate opportunities. Spectators can also enjoy a consession stand and heated seating area behind the stands.

John Mitchell Center

The John Mitchell Center is home to our Engineering Program, accredited by ABET, specializing in Electrical and Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, and Industrial Engineering. Also home to cutting-edge fields such as Cyber Security, Information Technology, and Technology Management. The innovative labs range from thermo-fluids,composites engineering, to circuit labs, provide the perfect environment for students to unleash their creativity, push boundaries, and shape the future of technology.

Upperclass Hall

Upperclass Hall is home to nearly 300 upperclass students who enjoy suite and apartment living in our LEED certified residence hall. Every floor has lounges, recycling rooms, and laundry facilities. All rooms are gender inclusive. The recreation room has a pool table, ping-pong, foosball, television and vending machines and is a great place to hang out, with a view of the outdoor patio area. Music practice rooms are available, mailboxes for residents,and conference rooms that may be booked for student use.
