Welcome to the University of Indianapolis, a private university affiliated with the United Methodist church and located near downtown Indianapolis, Indiana. UIndy, as it is commonly called, offers more than 80 undergraduate majors in one of eight schools or colleges; in addition, there are many degrees at the Master's and doctoral levels. UIndy is highly ranked among Midwest universities and has renowned graduate programs in physical therapy, occupational therapy, and nursing. Students benefit from small class sizes, a diverse population, flexible programming, and many extracurricular and athletic opportunities. Let's take a look at the 50-acre campus to learn more about the University of Indianapolis.

The Christel DeHaan Fine Arts Center is a multipurpose arts facility found near the entrance to the UIndy campus. Housed within is the 500-seat Ruth Lilly Performance Hall, designed in the Viennese style and on par with great concert halls in Europe; considered "acoustically perfect," it is used for concerts and lectures. In addition, the Fine Arts Center is home to an art gallery, practice rooms, studios, and classrooms.

Esch Hall was designed to greet students in the most welcoming and warm way, by employing contemporary architecture features on the inside and outside. It serves as both an administrative and academic building, housing offices, the School for Adult Learning, the School of Business, and the College of Arts and Sciences. Esch Hall is also home to creative spaces, including the Studio Theatre, which is an 80-seat black-box theatre, and Ransburg Auditorium.

Ransburg Auditorium is on the eastern side of Esch Hall, one of the larger facilities at UIndy. Featuring a proscenium configuration, it is the main venue used for theatre productions, with seating for up to 780. Performances have included Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream, Chekhov's The Three Sisters, and Sondheim's Into the Woods. When it isn't being utilized for theatrical purposes, Ransburg Auditorium is a venue for lectures, conferences, choir concerts, and dance productions.

Constructed in 1904, Good Hall is the oldest building on campus, but a recent renovation has added both modern classrooms and technology. It is home to the Recital Hall and Ransburg Gallery; the Recital Hall hosts an array of lectures and events, while the gallery is used for exhibitions of student and faculty work. Good Hall is also where students in the School of Psychological Sciences attend classes and conduct research; they further hone psychotherapy skills in the five clinical labs.

The renovated and expanded Schwitzer Student Center houses many campus services and resources like the Academic Success Center, Student Life, and headquarters for many UIndy clubs and organizations. It's also the site of the main dining hall, The Market Place, which serves three meals a day; its cook-to-order stir fry bar and dessert bar are especially popular. The Theatre Department holds its annual Dinner Theatre production here, complete with stage, elegant tables, and a buffet dinner.

Ruth Lilly Center is the primary facility for the Athletic Department at UIndy; it provides space for coaches' offices, video viewing rooms, the Life Fitness Center, a training room, and meeting rooms. The Life Fitness Center features state of the art exercise equipment and a recently renovated weight room; extensive hours of operation seven days a week accommodate most students' schedules. In addition to a eight-lane swimming pool, there is also a gymnasium used for basketball, volleyball, and wrestling.

East Hall is a residence hall for 153 sophomores, juniors, and seniors; it consists entirely of single occupancy rooms, each of which comes with a bed, sink, desk, dresser, and ample closet space. A bathroom is shared by two connected rooms, and every floor has a kitchenette, lounge, and television. Additional amenities include fireplaces, balconies, and ping-pong tables.

Martin Hall is the new 48,000-square-foot health sciences building home to the nationally ranked School of Occupational Therapy, School of Nursing, and Krannert School of Physical Therapy. Students pursuing degrees in one of these three schools benefit from interdisciplinary collaborations with the other two. A top-notch faculty consists of professors who regularly present at symposia and author articles in highly respected science and health publications.

f you are enrolled in math, natural sciences, anthropology, or computer science courses, you will find yourself inside the classrooms of Lilly Science Hall. Laboratories were upgraded in 1999 and an addition connects this building to another science facility, Martin Hall. Although Lilly Science Hall is most often the site of studying and research, the Biology Club has been known to construct a "Haunted Lab" here for children around Halloween time.

When you need to devote a significant amount of time to studying or research, Krannert Memorial Library will be a valuable resource for you. With over 175,000 volumes, 600 periodical subscriptions, and a 24/7 computer lab, you should be able to find what you're looking for while inside Krannert. Many books are available online in electronic form and the library is also a wi-fi hotspot, like most places on campus.
