Chapel

An icon of the University's religious spirit and a prominent landmark of the city of Dayton, the Chapel of the Immaculate Conception holds a special place in the hearts and minds of the entire UD community. Daily mass is held in the Chapel and is open to everyone. The Chapel's namesake marks an exciting day on campus! Every December 8th, on the Feast of the Immaculate Conception, the entire Dayton community comes together for Christmas on Campus. This event is a massive festival of food, games, lights, decorations, and charity. UD students adopt local children and all are united in the spirit of fun, home, and giving that surrounds the season.

Central Mall

The Central Mall is a great outdoor space where many students choose to sit and study. Located in the heart of campus, you are close to many different buildings, like our Humanities Center. Students majoring in history, philosophy, languages, English, religious and international studies will spend most of their time here. Through the Common Academic Program- students of all majors participate in interdisciplinary classes that suit their interests and help them achieve their goals.

Library

The newly renovated library is open Sunday-Thursday 7:30am-5am, Friday-Saturday 7:30am-12am; open 24 hours during Finals Week. On the first floor, you will find a variety of services available to students including the ability to book a librarian for one-on-one research assistance as well as the "Write Place" where students can get their papers and assignments proofread. On the ground floor, you will find the Learning Teaching Center as well as the Office of Learning Resources. When you are in need of caffeine after a long day of studying be sure to also check out the Blend Express on the ground floor, a Flyer Enterprises café.

Kennedy Union

In the heart of campus is Kennedy Union. KU is home to some of the most popular weekday dining options, perfect for meals in between classes. Additionally, many students will spend time bowling or playing pool with friends in the Hangar. On the first floor, you will find Boll Theater. This space is used for various UD performances, outside speakers, and events. On a sunny day, step outside to the Rooftop garden, which helps lower energy use in the building.

Fitz Hall

Fitz Hall is the largest academic building on campus and is located at the corner of Brown and Caldwell Streets just across from the main part of campus. It is home to the School of Education & Health Sciences, Departments of Music, Art & Design, and Theatre, Dance and Performance Technology. If you are working on a Doctorate of Physical Therapy or a Master of Physician Assistant Practice, you will also spend your time here. Brown Street Bistro and the Offices of Public Safety and Parking Services are also housed in Fitz Hall.

Marycrest

Affectionately known as "The Crest," Marycrest Complex overlooks the Central Mall. Our largest residential facility, Marycrest is home to more than 900 students and is co-ed by floor. Marycrest includes one of UD's three main dining locations and the tranquil Serenity Pines Garden just outside, as well as lounge areas on each floor, chapel space with support from Campus Ministry, a bike storage room and a secure mail room. Each of UD's residence halls offers a supportive environment in which students feel right at home, and our students have ranked UD among the best in the nation for student housing.

Caldwell

Caldwell Apartments is a residential community of 400 students accommodating sophomores and upper-class residents. All apartments are four-person suite style units that wrap around a beautiful quad which is used by students during warm weather. Unique to the Caldwell apartments is the Global Learning Living Community which intentionally brings together US and international students to live and learn from one another's unique perspectives. Members of this community are leaders on campus for global education. With most of our undergraduate population living on campus, UD offers a variety of housing options as students progress in their academic journeys.

Art Street Complex

ArtStreet is an innovative living and learning complex located in the heart of the south student neighborhood. The 58 juniors and seniors who live here seek to challenge the social consciousness of the campus, city and nation through a creative lens that enriches the evolving 21st century educational environment. In addition to the residential facilities, Art Street is also the home to the Brook Center which focuses on creating an environment that supports the academic, personal, spiritual, and social growth of students.

RecPlex

The RecPlex fitness and recreation complex is home to many of Campus Recreation's programs and services and enhances the quality of life for the entire University community. It contains the most contemporary equipment, facilities and classes available, plus an outdoor turf field with a surrounding track. Inside, you'll notice the elevated track overlooking basketball courts. There are also racquetball and squash courts, indoor soccer and multi-purpose courts, a weight room and a 30-foot climbing wall. Take a dip in the swimming pool with a view of the student neighborhood, and on your way out, grab a delicious smoothie at the Chill - one of the student-run businesses of Flyer Enterprises.

Stuart Complex

Stuart Complex is one of 3 residence halls where our first year students live. Three towers make up Stuart and they're connected by one main lobby where students will find multiple lounges, laundry, a chapel, and Stu's Landing- a convenience store operated by Flyer Enterprises. The other two first-year residence halls are Marycrest and Founders. Marycrest- the largest residential complex on campus- is also featured in our virtual tour. Finally, just about 400 first year students call Founders their new home. Located next to the campus's central mall, students in Founders are always near the hustle and bustle of campus.

Science Center

The Science Center is the centerpiece for students interested in studying the natural or physical sciences here at UD. This building provides 240,000 square feet of state-of-the-art teaching laboratories, multimedia classrooms, a microbiology/genetics laboratory, an anatomy and physiology lab, a three story atrium and common area and a shared instrumentation facility. Earning a degree from the College of Arts and Sciences, you experience a curriculum devoted to combining theory and practice, on a path to post-graduate success. Working closely with faculty, students interested in research spend time thinking creatively and collaborating on many different topics in this space.

Kettering Labs

The School of Engineering is located in Kettering Labs, a building with modern laboratories and integrated learning spaces. With degree opportunities ranging from undergraduate to doctorate level programs, students will gain a great technical education, but value collaboration, community-engaged learning, and adaptation to change. Faculty strive to develop engineers who are socially and globally aware, understand business and entrepreneurship, and are prepared for leadership roles in their profession. In Kettering Labs you will find the only Flight Simulator tailored for academic purposes in North America, an Innovation Center assisting more than 200 external clients, and a Center founded by students focused on community engaged learning striving to make a difference.

Curran Place

Daniel J. Curran Place, named in honor of UD's 18th president, houses the University of Dayton Research Institute, University Advancement, Center for Leadership, Institute for Pastoral Initiatives, MBA program, Osher Lifelong Learning Institute, catering, and classrooms for graduate courses, continuing education and leadership development. The front lawn of Curran Place, a solar pollinator prairie, serves as a "living laboratory" dedicated to sustainability. Among the first of its kind in Ohio, the prairie features 2,805 single-access tracking solar panels and more than 81 types of native plants, all of which students and faculty can access for research and collaborative learning.

Arena

The Arena is the cornerstone in every UD students' time as a Flyer- it's the first University building you see exiting interstate 75 when you come to campus for the first time and it's also the building in which you receive your diploma at graduation. The Arena turned 50 years old in 2019 and underwent a three-year renovation transformation, the largest construction project in University history. In addition to Flyer men's and women's basketball games, high school tournament games, and the NCAA First Four, the arena is used for competitions such as the Winter Guard International World Championships, entertainment events, and large-scale educational seminars.

Downtown Dayton

The University of Dayton and the Entrepreneurs' Center recently opened The Hub Powered by PNC Bank at the Dayton Arcade. At 95,000 square feet, The Hub is among the largest university-anchored innovation hubs in the country, including shared and private office spaces, meeting rooms, conference areas, pop-up retail opportunities, learning labs and classrooms. In this downtown Dayton space, UD's Entrepreneurs' Center will host its annual Flyer Pitch competition, one of the largest business plan competitions at the collegiate level, and students will directly engage with entrepreneurs and others who support startups on a daily basis.

UD has a rich history of collaboration and community, developing strong partnerships to better serve our students. To help make a UD education more accessible, we've partnered with Sinclair College on a Bachelor of Science in Nursing program, as well as the UD Sinclair Academy, which allows you to start your education at Sinclair and finish it at UD. Each of these programs provides you with UD student benefits all four years. We're proud of the growing partnerships we're establishing to provide seamless transfer opportunities, and we offer personalized credit evaluations and generous transfer scholarships for all full-time transfer students
