Gorsuch Commons

Welcome to UAA's residential campus — just a short walk, bike, or shuttle ride from the main campus. My name is Ryleigh and I'm a Health Sciences major. We're in the Gorsuch Commons, which lies in the heart of the housing community. It features the Creekside Eatery, a convenience store and other amenities. It also features various spaces that promote social interaction and engagement, including the Cama-i Room, a gathering place and study center that focuses specifically on the needs of Alaska Native, Indigeneous and rural students living on the UAA campus. All housing options include basic furnishings and utilities, as well as a community you can connect and learn with. Before you explore our on-campus living community, let me share how you can navigate around. You can click on the forward facing arrow to start walking around. Residence Hall

The North, East, and West Halls are the three residence halls in the UAA Housing community that generally house incoming first-year students and students under the age of 21. UAA's residence halls offer suite-style housing with one, two or four private bedrooms and one or two bathrooms within each suite. You can choose to be a part of a Living Learning Community, which places and connects students who share similar academic interests on the same floor. Each hall houses approximately 200 students and features common-area lobbies, like the one we are in now, community kitchens, lounges for studying and socializing, and laundry facilities.

MACs

The six-building Main Apartment Complex, known on campus as “MAC,” offers apartment-style living for students. Each apartment has four private single-bedrooms plus a shared kitchen, bathroom, living room and storage area. Living in apartments offers students more independent lifestyles while still being connected to campus — especially with the convenient access to classes, campus amenities and the UAA community. The MAC apartments are typically reserved for students who have lived on campus at least one year, or students 21 years of age or older.

Templewood

The Templewood Apartments offer 20 three-story “townhouse-style” units. The upper-level of each unit includes two single bedrooms, one shared bedroom, and two bathrooms. A kitchen, living room, half-bath, laundry room and storage closet are located on the middle level, and a two-car garage and additional storage complete the ground level. The more independent living environment that the apartments provide, coupled with the proximity to campus, allow students to enjoy the benefits of living on campus. Availability in the Templewood apartments is very limited and typically reserved for students 21 or older.

MAC Quad

The MAC Quad is the central outdoor gathering place in the residential area. Catch up with friends, study outside and get involved in On-Campus Living events and activities hosted in the Quad, like the annual Block Party, a fun outdoor event welcoming students back to campus each semester. The MAC Quad also features several grills for barbecuing and connects to Chester Creek, a beautiful piece of UAA's urban and wild habitat that winds through campus where you can see birds, salmon and other wildlife. Students living on campus are supported by student and professional staff members who serve as mentors, provide resources and assist residents in achieving their academic goals.
