SCAD's Admission Welcome Center offers a variety of on-campus visitation opportunities for prospective students. From daily tours to workshop days to summer programs, SCAD affords students and educators alike the opportunity to have a unique experience while on campus. During the application process, every student is assigned an individual admission adviser. Your own personal admission tour guide will walk you through the entire application process, all the way through to enrollment. You can also learn more about SCADpro, the university's collaborative design studio, at this stop.

The Hub

We are now standing in The Hub, the common area for SCAD Atlanta students. To the right is The Hub dining hall, which offers a wide variety of food options, from burgers and fries to vegan and vegetarian menu selections — even international cuisine. The dining hall often features farm-to-fork menus by Bon Appetit. The Hub is used as a space for students to collaborate and socialize. Annual events and activities are frequently held in this space, from lectures to student organization meetings. In addition, you will often find students connecting with each other, working on assignments, or taking a quick break in the nap pod.

Fashion

School of Fashion students in Atlanta can choose to study fashion, fashion marketing and management, or accessory design. The fashion department features a resource room for researching various fabrics, and a modern sewing lab. The studio space includes pattern drafting tables, standard and custom-made dress forms, and steam irons, while the computer lab allows students to make mood boards, flats, websites, and digital portfolios. In the SCAD School of Fashion Style Lab mentorship program, select students have worked one-on-one with industry professionals such as Zac Posen and Catherine Malandrino. You'll even find international media, including The New York Times and Women's Wear Daily, at the annual SCAD fashion show.

Painting

Long renowned as one of the most traditional fine arts disciplines, the SCAD painting program now encompasses a variety of contemporary media. Students have access to open painting studios with abundant, natural light as well as enclosed studio classrooms. Studio 579 is a dedicated open painting studio available for use 24/7 by undergraduate students from any major. Classes are never scheduled in this space in order to allow ample room for creation. An intimate critique space with gallery-style lighting allows students to discuss their work with peers, professors, and visiting artists.

Photography

Our next stop is the photography department. Students studying photography learn to create images for a variety of contexts, from commercial photography and photojournalism, to fine art. Here, students process digital and traditional images in studios with private dark rooms, digital camera backs, and Durst Theta printers. Students can also check out professional lighting equipment and download a free copy of Adobe CS6. Each spring, SCAD hosts juried events that feature exhibitions and lectures from world-renowned photographers.

Printmaking

This is the printmaking studio. Printmaking majors learn various media-specific modes of creation, including etching, lithography and serigraphy. This cutting-edge facility includes a shop featuring equipment capable of etching and relief printing works that range in size. Letterpress, screen printing, papermaking rooms and lithography rooms allow students to learn this 200-year-old process using limestone or aluminum plates. Students also have access to four Vandercook presses, which are highly sought after and rare. SCAD Atlanta students have the opportunity to gain exposure for their work at the Southern Graphic Council International conference, the largest printmaking conference in the world.

Foundation Studies

SCAD’s School of Foundation Studies provides undergraduate students with a studio experience that builds visual, conceptual, and creative abilities. In these courses, students gain a foundation in drawing, design, and color theory, along with a shared artistic vocabulary that allows them to work and communicate across creative professions. All students at SCAD follow a specific foundations studies program for their major. This enables students to learn various types of art and design and compliments their program of study. SCAD’s Drawing and Design Center offers peer tutoring and workshops to all students seven days a week, and students can seek assistance without scheduling an appointment.

FORTY

Welcome to FORTY, an on-campus residence hall that offers both apartment- and suite-style housing. This coeducational community is available for first-year, continuing, and graduate students and features two-bedroom apartments, two-bedroom suites, and four-bedroom pods. All apartments include a living room, full kitchen, and two bathrooms. All suites include a living room, segmented bathroom, and kitchenette area. FORTY also features study space, event space, and dining opportunities.

Located in the heart of Midtown Atlanta, FORTY FOUR is an on-campus, coeducational residential community for new transfer and graduate students and continuing students, featuring both apartment- and suite-style housing. FORTY FOUR also features study space, event space, and social lounges.

FORTY FIVE

Located in the heart of Midtown Atlanta, FORTY FIVE is an on-campus residential, academic, and wellness complex. FORTY FIVE welcomes more than 400 students to its residential spaces, which are complemented with amenities like lounges, laundry facilities, a fitness center, a 700-seat theater, and a rooftop pool. The complex, which opened in 2023, also offers seamless access to FORTY and SCAD Way, while a bicycle path connects the building's Spring Street side to SCAD Way.

SCADfit

Located in FORTY FIVE, SCADfit offers state-of-the-art cardio and strength conditioning equipment, yoga and movement classrooms, and a counseling suite. Throughout the week, SCADfit hosts an array of fitness classes designed to personalize your path to wellness. With the fitness schedule staggered throughout the day, it's easy and convenient for students to pop in for a workout between classes and take advantage of the locker room and showers before continuing their day.

SCADshow

Located on the ground floor of SCAD Atlanta's FORTY FIVE, SCADshow hosts two state-of-the-art theater spaces — a 700-seat mainstage and an intimate 130-seat theater — with industry-leading projection and sound production technology. SCADshow also supports outdoor performances at SCAD COURT, located in the courtyard of FORTY FIVE. SCADshow is the home of SCAD signature events SCAD TVfest and SCAD AnimationFest, yearly festivals dedicated to the celebration of television, streaming, and digital media. The theater retains the name of SCAD Atlanta's original theater, which operated in the former Academy Theater on 14th Street from 2013 to 2020.

SCAD Digital Media Center

The SCAD Digital Media Center enables students to work and train in a real-world studio environment, creating experimental, immersive and interactive pieces using the latest technology. Home to SCAD Atlanta's animation, interactive design and game development, motion media design and visual effects programs, the DMC provides students with the technology and resources they need to create incredible digital works. Some features of the DMC include a cyclorama wall, which enables students to create virtual sets; Wacom tablets, a 75-seat cinema-quality screening, a green screen lab, editing suite access, and Foley stage.

SCAD FASH

The SCAD FASH Museum of Fashion + Film celebrates fashion as a universal language and film as an immersive medium. Situated within SCAD Atlanta, SCAD FASH welcomes students and visitors of all ages to engage with captivating exhibitions, films, and events. The museum has featured collections by icons such as Carolina Herrera, Oscar de la Renta, and Christian Siriano. In the SCAD Film Salon, students and the public can view commissioned works and screenings in style and comfort. SCAD FASH also includes a fashion resource room for the presentation of techniques and materials, as well as storage for the university's permanent collection.

SCAD Library

The SCAD Library in Atlanta is home to a vast array of resources, including access to more than 53,000 electronic books, 110,000 visual slides in the virtual resource center, and 285 periodical subscriptions. In addition to all of these resources, the SCAD Library is home to the Writing Center. Here, writing consultants offer assistance with all aspects of the writing process, including developing pre-writing strategies, structuring ideas, crafting a thesis statement, and more. Trois Gallery, located in the library, is one of four galleries that showcase artwork produced by SCAD students, faculty, and alumni, as well as nationally ranked artists.
