Russell House University Union

The Russell House University Union is located in the middle of campus and is home to many student services. Students can get involved in student government at the Leadership and Service Center, pick up packages at the Student Mail Center, participate in Garnet Media Group, take advantage of events like career fairs in our ballroom and so much more. Our university union is also home to Gamecock Entertainment, students' source for free and fun things to do on campus. When they're done, students can grab a bite to eat at one of our dining options within Russell House or at one of our other 30+ dining facilities across campus.

Wellness and Fitness Center

The Wellness and Fitness Center is our nearly 200,000 square-foot fitness complex on campus. Alongside the state-of-the-art training equipment, students take advantage of special courses, such as CPR certification and kayak safety, and look forward to poolside movie nights and charity events like Dance Marathon. But the Wellness and Fitness Center is not our only Campus Recreation facility. We also have the Blatt Physical Education Center, which is often used for our physical education classes. There is also the Outdoor Recreation Hub, where students can rent outdoor adventure equipment at an affordable price.

SEC Athletics

Did you know you can't spell SEC without SC? We compete at the highest level in the Southeastern Conference in sports like football, basketball, swim and dive, baseball, tennis, equestrian and much more. Our student athletes put up some impressive numbers in the classroom and the scoreboard. They also contribute more than 10,000 hours of community service each year. From national championship wins to fast-paced club and intramural sports, there's always a team to celebrate.

Residence Halls

Our residence halls are located throughout campus to accommodate each freshman class and they vary in style. Students have five different floor plans to choose from – traditional, pod, suite, apartment and affiliated apartment. Each residence hall has its own personality, community and unique opportunities for students, and they feature amenities like dining facilities, free laundry, study rooms and more. Resident assistants live in each hall to support students as they transition to life at Carolina. You can explore various housing options and floor plans in the media gallery.

Main Street/Columbia

We're currently located on Main Street, one of Columbia's five districts! In addition to our weekly farmers market, you'll find the Nickelodeon Theatre, the Columbia Museum of Art, a variety of local restaurants and much more. As the capital of South Carolina, Columbia offers all the excitement of an urban destination within a close-knit community. Our city is bursting with energy, innovation, multinational corporations, beautiful parks, outdoor adventures, art, culture and everything in between. With multiple Fortune 500 companies located right at our backdoor, there are endless opportunities and experiences offered to students. And when you're ready for a new adventure, the beach and mountains are just two hours away.

Center for Health and Well-Being

Here we are in the lobby of our Center of Health and Wellbeing. This is our one-stop shop for physical and mental health. Whether a student needs updated immunizations, lab tests and screenings or is just feeling under the weather, they have access to excellent services and professional staff ready to meet their needs. The center has its own pharmacy, mental health support resources, registered dietitians, physical therapy services and more. Students can also learn healthy cooking habits through classes in our demonstration kitchen. If you click on our hotspots, you can catch a glimpse of the physical therapy room and many of the other services available in the center.

Thomas Cooper Library

We're at the Thomas Cooper Library, also known as T-Coop. This 7-floor building is many students' first choice for a study spot. Each floor has a different noise level, so students can pick the environment that best matches their study habits. Students have access to personalized academic support and career preparation through the Student Success Center and Career Center. They can also reserve study rooms for group projects and team meetings. A big plus is the full-service Starbucks located on the main floor. Outside you'll find the Fountain and Reflecting Pool, the perfect place to take a break between classes – or celebrate an athletic win.

Arnold School of Public Health

At the Arnold School of Public Health, you'll find our public health and exercise science programs. We're the only accredited public health school in the state and one of the country's first to offer both bachelor of arts and bachelor of science options, allowing students to focus on the social and behavioral, or the clinical side of the field.  Exercise science students complete 300 hours of hands-on experience, putting them in a great position when applying for jobs or graduate school. Students also get involved in research with one of our many labs across the school. You can explore these labs and more through the videos added to this stop.

Fine Arts & Humanities (College of Arts & Sciences)

Welcome to our College of Arts & Sciences, home to nearly 40 majors and 70 minors. This stop focuses on our fine arts and humanities majors, ranging from film and media studies to political science, dance, criminal justice, theatre, cyber intelligence and history. Theater and dance majors perform at our Longstreet Theatre and the Koger Center. Art students also take advantage of maker spaces and studios, including the ceramics studio we are currently in. All our majors intern in a variety of public and private organizations. For example, political science majors can intern at the South Carolina State House, located just a few blocks from campus.

Math, Science & Statistics (College of Arts & Sciences)

Welcome to our College of Arts & Sciences, home to nearly 40 majors and 70 minors. This stop focuses on our math, science and statistics majors, ranging from economics to chemistry, biochemistry, physics, marine science, neuroscience and psychology. Today we're in our newest biology lab, where you can get hands-on experience studying the biology of micro-organisms, plants, and even small animals. Each of our science programs have similar labs where students meet weekly. Beyond classes, students also join professors' research teams, intern locally and around the nation, and work in a variety of fields while abroad.

College of Education

We're outside of Wardlaw, home to the College of Education. The college's 60 academic programs offer a variety of educational options for Pre-K through higher education, counseling and special education. It also has small class sizes of just 14 students. The college places students in more than 50 school districts for internships, with experiences beginning as early as their freshman year, and most students spend an average of 700 hours in these classrooms. The College of Education also has plenty of resources to ensure student success. Gamecock EdQuarters offers undergraduate advising, exam prep for teacher licensing, scholarship information and study abroad opportunities such as the Reggio Emilia partnership in Italy.

College of Engineering and Computing

Our college has 10 undergraduate majors ranging from biomedical, chemical, electrical and aerospace engineering to computer science and information technology, and all students begin taking courses in their major their freshman year! We also offer many minors and concentrations including cybersecurity and AI for our computing students. Each major has its own dedicated teaching lab. We're currently inside the lab for our aerospace engineering program, the only one of its kind in South Carolina. Students also gain experience by participating in internships, research and competitions like Hackathon and events like Tiger Burn. And many join one or more of the 40 student organizations specific to our school.

College of Hospitality, Retail & Sport Management

The College of Hospitality, Retail and Sport Management is leading the world's most vibrant consumer experience industries, offering top-ranked degrees in hospitality, tourism, sport and entertainment, retailing and fashion merchandising. The College of HRSM is known for its world-renowned faculty and experiential learning which gives graduates a competitive career advantage. HRSM alumni run hotels, arenas, stores, brands, festivals, pro sports teams and more – here in South Carolina and all around the world. All our majors gain experience to add to their resume beginning their freshman year. This includes internships at major sporting and entertainment venues, corporations and resorts. Retailing majors also staff the Gamecock iHub, our on-campus Apple store.

College of Information and Communications

Welcome to the College of Information and Communications. In this college, you'll find fully operational broadcast studios, a newsroom, social media analytics lab and more. We also have a Biometrics and User Experience Lab with advanced research tools such as eye tracking, facial tracking and brain wave detection. Many of our students also participate in CreateAthon, where they spend 24 hours developing marketing materials for local nonprofits in an agency-like setting. All CIC students receive Adobe Creative Cloud products for free. They also have access to incredibly experienced professors, and accomplished alumni, think Emmy and Pulitzer Prize winners.

College of Nursing

This is the  College of Nursing's simulation center, accredited by the Society for Simulation in Healthcare. We are in the top one percentile in the country with our NCLEX pass rate. And our online graduate programs rank #1 nationally by the 2023 U.S. News & World Report. Outside of the classroom, upper division students are placed in clinical rotations at major hospitals in the Midlands, where they participate in different areas of the field to enhance learning. We're excited to expand by opening a new 52,000 square foot state of the art facility in fall 2024. In partnership with Lexington Medical Center, this simulation space will increase our nursing graduates.

College of Pharmacy

Welcome to the ACE Compounding Lab in the College of Pharmacy. This state-of-the-art lab is one of only a few of its kind in the country, offering hands-on training that is unique to our college. We also offer other programs that no other college provides such as the Kennedy Pharmacy Innovation Center and our Walker Leadership Scholars program. Students can earn their Pharm.D. in as few as six years. Academically gifted students can gain early acceptance through the Gamecock Pharmacy Assurance program. And with higher than national and state averages for professional licensing exams, Gamecock Pharmacists are working around the world in a wide range of health care related careers.

College of Social Work

This is Hamilton College, home to the College of Social Work. Students here are preparing for careers in advocacy, social justice, case management, and mental health therapy. In addition to small class sizes, students enjoy field practicums, those real-world labs where they practice skills learned in class. Before graduating, students will complete more than 500 hours of field experience in settings like hospitals, schools, non-profits agencies, and NGOs working alongside social workers to serve a variety of clients. The College of Social Work partners with community, too, through its centers and institutes, like the Center for Child and Family Studies and the Newman Institute for Peace and Social Justice.

Darla Moore School of Business

We're currently in the courtyard of our Darla Moore School of Business, home to programs known for their academic excellence. In fact, our undergraduate international business program has been ranked #1 by U.S. News and World Report for over 20 years! Outside of incredible faculty and business-centered student organizations, students enjoy modern classrooms, a rotating menu at the Global Café and job fairs with top companies across the globe. There are many business-specific study abroad trips, so you can immerse yourself in a different culture while building global connections. Students are even selected for international business cohort programs that spend up to two years studying abroad.

School of Music

Our School of Music students study and perform in some of the best venues in the Southeast including this recital hall as well as the Koger Center for the Arts, the Copenhaver Band Hall, the String Project building, Johnson Hall in the Darla Moore School of Business, and the Greene Street Church, which is now being renovated to house our jazz and musical theatre areas.  We offer more than 20-degree programs that include our newest degree in Music Industry Studies and traditional degrees such as music performance and music education, as well as minors like recording technology. Additionally, student musicians of all majors are welcome in our ensembles and courses. 

South Carolina Honors College

We're currently in the lobby of the Honors Residence Hall, home to freshmen in the #1 public honors college in the nation. The South Carolina Honors College has more than 600 unique honors-specific courses and an average class size of 14. Students also have access to semester-long programs that allow them to gain real-world experience, like interning on Capitol Hill or conducting marine science research at the Baruch Institute. The best part, though, are the unique traditions, such as freshman flotilla and the Honors gala, that bring students together to celebrate the special community found in our Honors College.

Greek Village

We've made it to Greek Village, home to 20 of our 40 plus sorority and fraternity chapters. Each of our organizations has its own rituals, traditions, and philanthropies, but they all strive to live by the four core values of scholarship, leadership, service and friendship. Students contribute over 140,000 hours of community service and millions in philanthropic donations to both the Carolina community and across the nation. Students involved in Greek life have access to incredible leadership opportunities, organization-specific scholarships and events, and special housing and meal plan options.
