Welcome to Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. As America's first technological research university, RPI has been defining the scientific and technological advances of our world, and 2024 marked our 200th anniversary! Our graduates invented the digital camera, sunscreen, email, and the Ferris wheel; landed a man on the moon; and designed and built a number of iconic structures including the Brooklyn Bridge and Fenway Park. Our campus is nestled in the historic city of Troy, New York, and is less than a mile from downtown Troy, which is home to more than 250 unique local businesses, a year-round farmer's market, seasonal events, and more.
