Work Program Office
Tour stop audio transcript
Paul Quinn College is America's First and Only Urban Work College. The Work Program was created to help students transform ability into action and potential into achievement through disciplined work, servant leadership, and initiative. All residential students are required to participate in the on-campus or Corporate Work Program, agreeing to work 10-20 hours per week. Every hour worked helps to cover tuition costs and put money in the students' pocket by way of a Work Program scholarship and stipend. Participation in the Work Program looks different for each student, however they all benefit from real-world work experience, decreased student loan debt intake, and regular mentorship and evaluation from dedicated supervisors.
Clothes Closet
Tour stop audio transcript
The WE Over Me Clothes Closet was created in 2007 and adopted by JC Penney in 2015. The purpose of the clothes closet is to assist students with fulfilling the requirements of the campus dress code and to prepare them with their first wardrobe as they prepare for post-graduate careers. The business casual dress code is in effect Monday through Thursday 8 AM – 5:30 PM and on Friday's until 12 Noon. Students have grown to love the fashion forward expectations of PQC and so have our corporate partners. When JC Penney saw what Paul Quinn was doing they decided to underwrite the closet with new clothes every semester.

Before the Fall of 2018, this lecture hall sat dormant for almost ten years. We are proud to re-introduce the now Bishop & Dr. John Hurst Adams Family Auditorium & Lecture Hall. Simply known as the Adams Auditorium, this lecture hall is state of the art in audio and visual quality, hosting a widescreen projector screen and surround sound speakers. The auditorium can host up to 225 guests with 180 desk seats and a cushioned area at the top of the amphitheater. The college uses the space for large classes and lectures; it's also hosted a U.S. Presidential Candidate, multiple feature films, and a step show! Come take a seat.
Classroom
Tour stop audio transcript
Here in Adams 209, you will find an example of a classroom at Paul Quinn College. Our classrooms are all equipped with state-of-the-art audio and visual equipment for learning with technology. The cool thing about this classroom is that most of the walls are painted with bright pastel colors that enhance cognition and help students stay alert. Additionally, the accent wall is retractable so the classroom can become larger, but also, they're whiteboards for a more interactive class environment. Most classrooms also have large floor to ceiling windows that bring in natural light. Who wouldn't want to learn in a space with all these features?!?
Carrington Lab

This is the Carrington Learning Lab, located in the Student Union Building, right across from the cafeteria. The Carrington Lab, underwritten by alumni Jeff and Bess Dunner, is more than a computer lab; it is a space dedicated to students needing extra academic attention and structured study plans. The staff and student-employees working in this lab have created an environment that is conducive to the academic development of students who need support in course management, test anxiety, school-life balance, and so much more. The Carrington lab is one of the quietest labs on campus and is a great place to meet up with a tutor or quickly print a paper.
Health & Wellness Center
Tour stop audio transcript
Our new 1,100-person capacity Health & Wellness Center was the first new building on campus in almost 50 years. The facility houses what ESPN dubbed "the best basketball court in America" and is home to our basketball, cheer and dance teams, Health & Wellness majors and select community partners. The court's design uses a black-and-white photograph of the Dallas skyline from 1920 during the Jim Crow era when Black and Brown people could not freely walk through downtown Dallas. At Paul Quinn, everything is a history lesson, and our court serves to educate people about race relations and the history of racism not only in Texas, but in America.

Soccer Field
Tour stop audio transcript
Prior to 2013, Paul Quinn College did not have a soccer team. There were a group of students, led by Quinnite Giovanni Macias Class of 2015, who were passionate about playing the sport on the collegiate level. When they brought their proposal to President Sorrell, he encouraged them to take their thought seriously and turn it into action. By 2015, PQC not only had an official team, we converted the old baseball field into the now Outdoor Physical Education Center and Gio Macias Soccer Field. Our D1 men's and women's soccer teams compete in the USCAA and NAIA Red River Conference and have seen rankings as high as #3 nationally.

There are two full courts and seating areas open for any student to enjoy the great outdoors.

WE/Me Farm
Tour stop audio transcript
When Paul Quinn College decided to convert its football field into an organic farm, many eyebrows were raised. But the move symbolized the College's dedication to a team of a different kind – the team of individuals and organizations fighting to end food insecurity and injustice in America. The WE Over Me Farm has produced and provided more than 60,000 pounds of organic produce since its inception in March 2010. Under the guidance of the Farm Manager, the Farm is maintained entirely by Paul Quinn student-employees, who actively engage in all farm activities, from business planning to marketing, and thus serves as a model of environmentally-driven servant leadership and entrepreneurship.
