Welcome to Nova Southeastern University. A world-class education deserves a world-class destination. From a diverse cultural arts scene to the beach to professional sports, your college experience benefits immeasurably from NSU's location. There are more than 20,000 graduate and undergraduate students at NSU, but we're a tight-knit community. We're a large university with a small school vibe. The Shark Fountain in front of the Don Taft University Center represents NSU's mascot--the shortfin mako shark. This 17-foot bronze mako shark weighs 3,000 pounds and has 76 individually sculpted teeth. It's a symbol of Shark pride and a picture-perfect spot to capture memories with your friends, colleagues, and loved ones. University Center

The Don Taft University Center, also known as "The U.C." is the hub of student life. This building houses the Rick Case Arena, which is where you'll cheer on NSU's NCAA Division II basketball and volleyball teams. The arena also hosts community events including concerts, comedians, and guest speakers. For great food and relaxing spaces, check out the Flight Deck or Razor's Reef, which includes your own campus Starbucks. Plus, you'll find inspiration everywhere, from the 3-story undersea mural by renowned marine artist and scientist, Guy Harvey, to the theatre, music, dance, visual art, and other cultural productions held in the Performing and Visual Arts Wing.

RecPlex

Work hard, then play hard at NSU's RecPlex, a state-of-the-art wellness and fitness center. Here, you'll find 15,000 square-feet of cardiovascular and strength training equipment, two indoor basketball courts, three racquetball courts, a two-story indoor climbing wall, three multipurpose rooms, and the largest pool in South Florida. There are all kinds of group exercise classes available at the RecPlex, including spinning, yoga, Zumba, hip-hop, and more.You can also you can sign up to compete in intramural sports, make a splash with aquatics classes, get your SCUBA certification, and join your fellow Sharks for outdoor adventures!

Athletics

Raise your fins! NSU is home to 16 intercollegiate athletics programs for both men and women. Our state-of-the-art athletic facilities and elite coaches give NSU's student-athletes an edge that allows them to compete at the highest level of the NCAA's Division II. Facilities include athletic training rooms, a competition pool, and dedicated complexes for strength and conditioning, baseball, soccer, golf, and tennis, as well as a multi-use facility with indoor basketball and volleyball courts.

Did you notice the shark fin coming out of Gold Circle Lake? Several university and community events take place around the lake, like NSU's annual CommunityFest. NSU has more than 120 clubs and organizations, and 99% of students join at least one. Facing the lake is the Student Affairs Building, where many events are coordinated, including Sharkapolooza, one of our greatest NSU traditions. You can also learn about student mentoring and community service opportunities here. If you're an off-campus student, you'll want to check out the Commuter Lounge, which is great for studying or relaxing in. And nearby, at the Rosenthal Student Center, you'll find NSU's student-run radio station, Radio-X.

Library

The Alvin Sherman Library Research and Information Technology Center isn't just the largest library on campus, it's one of the largest in Florida. You'll discover print and digital collections of research materials, specialized databases, popular fiction and nonfiction books, magazines and journals, and other music and video media. Inside this five-story building you'll find cozy reading niches, 22 study rooms, and a café. The library also hosts events throughout the year, including special programming for kids, teens, and adults; book discussions; author readings; and classes on using research tools and resources. Plus, don't forget to check out some of the library's permanent works of art, including a one-of-a-kind Chihuly creation!

Undergraduate Housing

On-campus living puts you right at the center of everything. You'll meet new people from all over the world, form friendships that'll shape your life, and have an endless array of options to entertain you. Our modern residences provide you secure, spacious convenience. All floor plans come with free utilities, including Wi-Fi, cable, and laundry. Every room features a private bathroom. This modern co-ed living community includes community living rooms, study rooms, and plenty of indoor and outdoor common space, including a courtyard that's perfect for a BBQ or for chilling out in a hammock. The Shark Cage

Located on the first floor of the Mako Hall residences, the Shark Cage offers students in the Huizenga Business Innovation Academy the opportunity to get a taste of entrepreneurship. Each student-run business in the Shark Cage aims to engage all members of the NSU community including students, faculty, and staff. Students take special courses to aid them in getting their business started. Past student-run businesses have included a clothing boutique, recreational and beach rentals, candy store, farmer's market, textbook reselling, and a variety of restaurants. Show your support for young entrepreneurs and take advantage of the many services offered!

The Quad

At the center of everything is The Quad. From here, you can see the library, the NSU Bookstore, and many of the other buildings that house classrooms, labs, study spaces, and more. There's usually something going on at the Quad, whether it's a campuswide event or student-run groups hosting midday games, dance parties, and other activities. The Quad offers plenty of sunny outdoor space for all sorts of happenings! Make sure you check out the sidewalk surrounding the grassy area—it's been painted by some of NSU's student organizations.

Fellows Way

Fellows Way is located between the Rose and Alfred Miniaci Performing Arts Center and the Carl DeSantis Building. On the bench you'll see H. Wayne Huizenga, the namesake of NSU's college of business. The Desantis Building is also home to the Abraham S. Fischler College of Education and School of Criminal Justice, the College of Computing and Engineering, and the Honors College. Most of our undergraduate classes are held here, so it's usually bustling with activity! This is also where you'll find NSU's Veterans Resource Center, which offers services specifically designed for veterans and military affiliated students. Feeling hungry? There's an Einstein's Bagels on the first floor!

Medicinal Garden

Just behind the Parker Building, you'll find NSU's Healing and Medicinal Garden, developed by the College of Pharmacy. The garden includes tropical plants from around the world with medicinal qualities, making it an international living classroom. There is also a 66-foot therapeutically stone-studded Reflexology Pathway. Both are both designed to promote wellness, tantalize the senses, and calm the soul.

Wet Lab

Inside the Parker Building you'll find impressive science and computer labs that allow you to develop hands-on skills. Students studying biology, chemistry, neuroscience, math, or technology can access over 18,000 square feet of combined lab and classroom space.

Writing Center

The NSU Write from the Start Writing and Communication Center (WCC) is an innovative workspace where students, consultants, and faculty come together, in person and online, to talk about writing and communication. Located inside the Alvin Sherman Library, this dynamic space has mobile furniture, whiteboards, and distributed technology that promote constant creativity and collaboration. The WCC includes two "Shark Tank" spaces equipped with large monitors and audio/visual recording capabilities for students working on presentations or group projects. Additionally, there is a Teaching and Learning Studio that hosts weekly workshops on innovative strategies in writing, teaching, and communication.

Health Clinics

NSU Health Clinics provide a full spectrum of affordable health care services to the South Florida community. The clinics serve patients of all ages, from children to seniors. We aim to improve the health care experience from every angle. Last year, more than 250,000 patients experienced a better 360 care experience throughout NSU's seven South Florida locations. NSU Health Clinics are coordinated by our nationally recognized faculty within our 10 health care colleges and programs. Services include health care education and assessments for vision, medical, speech, hearing, behavioral health, physical and occupational therapy, mental health, dental, and more.

It's no secret that NSU is globally recognized for its high-quality medical practitioners. Just ask one of the thousands of dentists, optometrists, pharmacists, veterinarians, and other medical professionals who are living their dream with an NSU degree on their office wall. NSU is also well-known for its high research activity. Currently, NSU has more than 200 research projects underway. Some research projects include studies on combatting opioid abuse, stem cell based tissue regeneration, neuro inflammatory disorders, shark DNA forensics, marine microbiology, breast cancer therapies, and coral reef restoration. Many of NSU's sponsored projects include collaborations with other universities, hospitals, and community organizations.

Law School

The Leo Goodwin Sr. Hall is the home of the Shepard Broad College of Law. NSU Law students are an international community of leaders, lawyers, and learners. Here, you'll learn how to understand law from different perspectives and become immersed not just in the study of law, but in the practice of it. The Leo Goodwin Sr. Hall has two model courtrooms, used by students as well as National Institute for Trial Advocacy and state appellate court judges, and houses the Panza Maurer Law Library, which includes extensive print and electronic holdings and special collections. There's also the Supreme Court Café, which offers tasty food and coffee options.

Graduate Programs

NSU offers 50+ master's programs and 30+ doctoral programs, many of which have a national reputation for preparing confident, capable and caring professionals. The Maxwell Maltz Building is home to the College of Psychology. NSU's Psychology and Counseling programs integrate training, research and service, to provide students with a deep dive into the mind and all the social, cognitive, developmental and biological foundations of human behavior. As a student, you can gain real-world experience at one of the 14 on-site psychology clinics that offer a range of clinical services to the public including Adult Services, Anxiety Treatment, Family Violence, Neuropsychology Assessment, Pediatric Mental Health and more.

Ocean Campus

What beats a school next to the ocean? A school in the ocean. NSU's Oceanographic Campus and marina is dedicated to the study of marine science. It's located right at the entrance to Port Everglades with immediate access to the Atlantic Ocean. Here, faculty, researchers, visiting scientists, post-doctoral fellows, and graduate students are supporting impactful research in various areas including coral reefs, genomics, sharks, fisheries, and biology. The campus is home to five buildings including the state-of-the-art NSU Guy Harvey Oceanographic Center, an 86,000-square-foot Silver LEED Certified structure that contains laboratories, offices, seminar rooms, an 85-seat auditorium, and indoor and outdoor running seawater facilities.

Art Museum & Fort Lauderdale

Marvel at impressive works of art at NSU Art Museum, located in the heart of downtown Fort Lauderdale, a culinary mecca with a great shopping district. NSU Art Museum is home to a permanent collection of more than 7,500 works in 25,000 square feet of exhibition space, and it's free to NSU students, faculty, and staff. The museum is known for its significant collection of Latin American, contemporary art with an emphasis on women, Black and Latinx artists, and African art from the 19th to the 21st-century. For art majors, NSU Art Museum can offer exciting internship opportunities. NSU Art Museum also includes a 256-seat auditorium, museum store, and café.

Welcome Center

NSU's Welcome Center, housed on the first floor of the William and Norma Horvitz Building, is a future Shark's first stop on campus. Here, you can schedule one-on-one meetings with the Office of Undergraduate Admissions and a walking tour with our Admissions Ambassadors. The Horvitz Building also houses the One-Stop-Shop, where you can register for classes, make payments, get your SharkCard and parking decal, and get information related to financial aid, scholarships, and more. This is also where you'll find the office of NSU President Hanbury.
