Martha Layne Collins Center for Industry and Technology

Commonly referred to as the “IT Building” this is where the technology piece of the College of Science, Engineering, and Technology calls home. You’ll see a variety of different design, print, research, and controlled labs throughout the building. One of the most unique and popular majors on our campus is known as Occupational Safety and Health or OSH uses this as their main educational building.

Blackburn Science Building

As the oldest science building on campus, Blackburn still has a handful of traditional science labs in addition to the observatory on top of the building. Majors like Geoscience, Archeology, and Anthropology are taught here in addition to a few entry level science lectures. Important campus resources like the Education Abroad Office, LGBT Programming Office, and the TRiO Program can be found here too!

Mason Hall

Mason Hall is home to the nursing program and filled with classrooms, labs, and staged hospital rooms for students to practice while they learn! Nursing is one of a few programs on campus that offers undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral level courses. While one of the most popular majors at Murray State, the Nursing Program also has a 99% pass rate for students taking the NCLEX!

Carr Hall

One of the original seven buildings on campus, Carr Hall has always been a place for students to enjoy. You’ll find classes in social work, criminal justice, and non-profit leadership on the main floor. Throughout the building are a variety of gyms, exercise spaces, and the first indoor pool in western Kentucky! Car Hall is attached to Racer Area which is one of the few volleyball specific facilities in the country!

Oakley Applied Science

The north section of Oakley is home to the other half of the School of Nursing and Health Professions. Students majoring in Dietetics, Exercise Science, and Public Health have access to a variety of classrooms, training labs, and simulation technologies. On the first floor, all students have access to resources like Career Services, Counseling Center, and the Women’s Center.

Hutson School of Agriculture

Included in the south annex of the Applied Science Building, the school of Agriculture is more than meets the eye! This building is home to their offices, classrooms, crop & soil labs, and student lounge among other things. However, the School of Agriculture hosts classes and conducts research in 22 different complexes and on their 5 off-campus farms. MSU is a regional and national leader in the field of Agriculture and is committed to being trail blazers for generations to come.

Waterfield Library

Waterfield is the main library on campus and is a great place to be productive or hang out between classes. Students have access to a variety of books, research materials, computers, laptops, chromebooks, and more! Students can visit the Writing Center or Oral Communication Center for free assistance with their upcoming assignments or presentations. Each academic college and major has their own librarian specifically to help them with research and locate resources. Swing by Einstein Bro’s Bagels for a bite to eat and choose where you want to study based on our designated noise levels!

Price Doyle Fine Arts Center

Home to a wide variety of programs, the fine arts center has the space and resources for every artistic student. Full of practice rooms, art galleries, recital halls, and classrooms there is an emphasis on students having space to create! There is also a TV-studio and broadcasting offices for our NPR-affiliate radio station WKMS. Audition for a spot in one of our performance groups or come see your friend show case their talent.

Quad

The quad is the most historic and picturesque destination on campus! Home to five of the seven original campus buildings, our quad pays homage to our legacy while creating a space for students to create their own. Home to landmarks like the ShoeTree, Rainey T. Wells statue, and Lovett Auditorium our quad is a place you will never forget! Many of our academic buildings surround the quad and is a common space to gather with friends before class or simply when the weather is nice. Racers across all generations have gathered in our quad for events like All Campus Sing or celebrated their love story on the Shoe Tree.

Wilson Hall

Wilson Hall is the second oldest building on campus and the only building being guarded from the top by concrete gargoyles! Wilson is currently home to the Journalism and Mass Communications, Public Relations, & Organizational Communications programs. The MSU Newsroom is inside and is where the campus newspaper is written, published, and printed.

Arthur J. Bauernfeind College of Business

The College of Business is one of the largest academic colleges on campus and is AACSB accredited. This makes MSU’s business school among the top 5% of all business schools is the nation! In addition to computer labs, classrooms, and work spaces, students will see a running stock ticker, world currencies exchange, have access to the State Farm Financial Services Center, or experience an iTV classroom. There’s even a place to grab a quick bite to eat known as the Business Express!

With a variety of programs ranging from Math to Philosophy, it's almost a guarantee every student will have at least one class in Faculty Hall! In addition to print stations, and a computer lab, you'll find the campus Foreign Language Center on the 1st floor. While many general education classes are offered here, the classrooms are small to allow for discussion and faculty engagement. Murray State has a student to faculty ratio of 16:1 with an average class size of 22 students.

Our next stop is the Gene W. Ray Science Campus as part of the Jesse D. Jones College of Science, Engineering and Technology. While they are often thought of as three different buildings, they are actually connected as one and house a variety of classrooms, teaching labs, and research labs. The newest construction is the School of Engineering. This branch also holds 3-D printing, robotics, construction, and artificial intelligence labs making it the most state of the art facility in the Mid-South region!

Alexander Hall

Alexander Hall is home to a variety of programs within the College of Education and Human Services. Education programs have NCATE accreditation and this building gives students to learn in ways outside of the traditional classroom. Alexander Hall is also home to our undergraduate program in Communication Disorders which can lead into our graduate program in Speech Language Pathology. With an on-site pre-school and speech & hearing clinic, hands on experience is only a few steps away!

Welcome to our neighborhood! Living on campus is one of the most unique things about being a Racer. You won't hear the word "dorm" very often because these buildings are so much more! We call them "Residential Colleges" since when you move onto campus you join a community. These communities have their own traditions, sports teams, mascots, rivalries etc. All students belong to a residential college community where they can get involved and meet other students. We allow students to select the community they want to join. There are students from different majors, states, and interests in every building! Winslow Dining Hall

Never fear, we have more than enough to eat! Winslow Dining Hall is our main campus dining facility and is a great place to eat and socialize. Every freshmen student has unlimited access to Winslow as part of their meal plan. Students have access to a variety of different menu items at each meal time in addition to constant access to food like cereal, salads, coffee, fresh fruit, or sandwiches. During the week we also serve a fourth meal called Late Night to fulfill your late night cravings. This is not your typical cafeteria! Winslow hosts themed cultural nights and asks students for their suggestions on what to serve.

Susan E. Bauernfeind Wellness Center

Looking for a way to blow off steam or stay in shape? The Bauernfeind Student Recreation & Wellness Center is a great place for fun and fitness. In this two story facility you'll find free weights, weight machines, treadmills, ellipticals, cross trainers, bikes, steppers, rowing machines, and indoor track. Play a game of basketball or volleyball on one of the three full sized courts. Students also have access to personal training or group fitness classes. Perfer the water? Check out the lap pool or relax in the hot tub. If you like to play sports be sure to learn more about the different Intramural Sports offered on campus!

Welcome to the friendliest small town in America according to USA Today! From shops to restaurants, Downtown Murray has it all. Throughout the year there are activities on the town square like the weekly farmers market, movies on the square, and the ice cream festival. Our community knows that one of the reasons it continues to flourish is thanks to the support of our students. When students are asked to pick one word that describes Murray, they word they most often choose is "home".
