Welcome to MiraCosta College, a two-year community college located on a scenic hilltop in San Diego County, California. Its name means, Òbehold the coastÓ in Spanish, referring to the spectacular views of both the Pacific Ocean and nearby mountains. While enrollment has surpassed 15,000, class sizes remain small, usually between 25-35 students.

Throughout your time at MiraCosta, the Library will be a valuable destination, with its collection of books, periodicals, and online databases. Library orientations and research workshops can help with locating materials, developing research strategies, and making use of available resources. The first floor of this building is home to the Tutoring Center, Writing Center, and the Math Learning Center if you are in need of one-on-one academic assistance.

Student Services

This building houses an array of administrative offices and services important to your college career. You can register for classes and acquire official transcripts at Admissions and Records. Find out about community service opportunities that supplement coursework by talking to the staff in the Service Learning Program office. Also located inside is Student Health Services, which provides basic medical care, counseling, nutrition advice, and suggestions for affordable health insurance plans to meet individual needs.

Student Center

When not in classes, head here to the Student Center to meet up with friends and grab a bite to eat in the cafeteria. The Honors Lounge provides study space and computer workstations exclusively for highly motivated honors students. Many organizations and clubs make the Student Center their headquarters, so this is a great place to become more involved in campus life; you can learn more about Student Government, the Chariot student newspaper, and clubs focusing on art, the outdoors, gardening, and college ministry.

Building 3500-3600

Building 3500 and Building 3600 are devoted to a multitude of classrooms and faculty offices. From anthropology to English, history to political science, there is a good chance you will frequent one of these buildings on a daily basis. In between these two structures is a courtyard full of shade-providing palm trees and comfortable places to sit. Many students take advantage of that southern California weather, and study and socialize here.

Clock Tower

The Clock Tower resides in the middle of campus and is a pleasant and popular gathering place. There is a fountain, tables and chairs, and plenty of grassy areas for relaxing and doing homework. This area also serves as the venue for College Hour, a weekly event that provides music, food, drinks, and activities. Students love this lively and entertaining break from classes every Thursday.

Whether you are working towards an AssociateÕs degree or a certificate, you will receive solid advice regarding your next steps here at the Career, Counseling and Transfer Center. Counselors make sure that you are progressing along your academic path and taking the right courses. If you are interested in continuing your studies at a four-year institution, the Transfer Center staff will help with making this transition as seamless as possible. The Career Center is aimed at assisting certificate-seeking students who want to find relevant internships or immediately enter the workforce.

Business Department & Computer Studies

Here we are at the classroom building that is home to the departments of Accounting, Business Administration, and Computer Science. In addition to certificate programs, the business offerings allow students to earn a two-year degree in preparation for Bachelor programs in entrepreneurship, management, or marketing. The Computer Science department trains the next generation of programmers and software engineers using cutting-edge technology.

Spartan Bookstore

Located on the first floor of the Student Center, the Spartan Bookstore sells all course materials needed each semester. In addition to books for class, you can also pick up MiraCosta apparel, and college necessities like laptops, notebooks, and art supplies. If you are unable to make it to campus before school begins, nearly everything found inside can be purchased online through Follett, Inc., which operates the Spartan Bookstore.
