Welcome to the University of Memphis Lambuth. As an extension of the UofM, you will be inspired by top professors in small classes, putting you on a first-name basis with experts in your field of study. You will have all of the advantages of our larger metropolitan university, along with the benefits of the intimate residential college environment of UofM Lambuth. As part of tradition, students enter campus through the gates in front of Varnell-Jones Hall during New Student Convocation on the first day of school, and they exit the gates during Baccalaureate as graduates from the University. Lambuth University was founded in 1843 as the Memphis Conference Female Institute. It became coed in 1923 and was renamed Lambuth College shortly after, and then became Lambuth University in 1991. In August 2011, the University of Memphis began offering classes at what is now known as UofM Lambuth. The rich history of the campus is evident here in the quad. The Quad is the center of campus life where you'll find student involvement fairs, concerts on the lawn or students playing Frisbee. You can't miss the tranquility of the 57-acre, tree-filled campus surrounded by stately historic buildings. No vast parking lots. No high-rise buildings. Just beauty and a genuine love for learning.

The Loewenberg College of Nursing, housed in Hyde Hall, offers two programs at UofM Lambuth - a five-semester, full-time Bachelor of Science in Nursing, and an RN to BSN. Students gain real-world experience in various areas within the nursing field, including mental health, pediatrics, gerontology and pathophysiology. The labs feature life-like simulator manikins that allow students to practice taking blood pressure, checking pulses, delivering a baby, inserting IVs and more. Our facilities allow us to offer interactive instruction in a safe environment before students transition to a clinical setting. The beds, carts and supplies are identical to those in a hospital, so students learn in an immersive, realistic environment.

The UofM Lambuth Music and Entertainment fuses three areas of study: music, business and technology. This concentration within the University College degree program will provide students an understanding of fundamentals in commercial music and the knowledge to gain employment in the entertainment industry. Our small class size provides each student the opportunity for hands-on training in our recording studio, beginning as early as freshman year. Typically, students receive 20-28 sessions per production class, so they're able to fully immerse themselves into the audio recording technology. Faculty in the recording technology area have served performing artists and agencies as recording engineers, sound designers and sound reinforcement engineers.

Living on campus is the best way to make the most of your college experience, not to mention research shows it actually improves grades. The newly renovated Carney-Johnson Residence Hall is home to almost 200 students. It offers single or double rooms with convenient suite-style baths on separate male and female floors. Hang out in the large living room space, or pull an all-nighter in the quiet study area on the second floor. Carney-Johnston Hall is next to the Wilder Student Union, home to the Bookstore and BlueGray Café & Grill, and the Wellness, Health & Fitness Building that features an Olympic-sized pool and a fitness gym, basketball court and game room.
