The Mafikeng Campus is one of three campuses of the North-West University. The other two are Potchefstroom and Vaal Triangle Campus. It is the second largest campus with between 10 and 11 000 student enrolments each year.
Before merging with Potchefstroom University and Vaal Triangle in 2004, Mafikeng Campus was known as the University of the North West (Uniwest).
We are now standing in front of the famous Leopard Statue that many of the campus alumni would relate to very well. The leopard symbolizes royalty, which is an indication of the type of students the campus attracts.
The statue is situated in front of the Great Hall.
For many years, this has been a beautiful spot where people take pictures during graduations and other significant events held at the Great Hall.
