Atrium

Inside, SPEA is both environmentally friendly ... and friendly friendly. Renewable energy credits offset our electric consumption. And this is the Atrium, the heart of the school. Here, you’ll find students and faculty meeting, working in groups, or just chatting and eating. You’re always sure to find a familiar face and good coffee and food are close by.

SPEA’s coffee shop anchors the first floor of the building. With salads, panini, snacks, and Starbucks beverages, you can grab it and go or settle in, study, and munch. If you have something fancier in mind, Bloomington is famed for its international restaurants and vibrant night life.
Information Commons

This is the Information Commons on the first floor. It’s a specialized library shared by SPEA and the adjoining Kelley School of Business. You’ll find computers, printers, the latest books and research, and librarians happy to help you find the resources you need. If you need more, the Wells Library that serves the entire campus is just across the street from SPEA.
Career Development Office

SPEA’S second floor is home to offices that serve students. Here you’ll find our Career Development Office. They can point you to the right internship or fellowship. You can join their career exploration trips to Washington, Chicago, Denver, and other cities. They’ll help you with resumes, cover letters, LinkedIn and other career launching tools. Employers from the EPA to Rolls Royce come here to recruit our graduates. SPEA’s Career Expos draw dozens of recruiters and give students a first chance to make that critical connection.
Undergraduate Program Office

Just off the Atrium is the Undergraduate Program Office. The advisors here can help future freshmen and current IU students find the right degree program or class. Our undergraduate degrees range from healthcare policy to arts administration to environmental science to management. They aredegrees that prepare you for careers working for a business, a nonprofit, or a government agency. Our undergraduate classes are taught by the same faculty as our top-ranked master’s program and they’re eager to help you succeed.

Our undergraduates have their own study and meeting space. This is where our Undergraduate Student Organization meets and our student groups that focus on healthcare, human resources, the environment, and nonprofits. It’s also a quiet study spot convenient to SPEA’s classrooms. Our undergraduates come from around the world and all are at home here.

Just off the Atrium is the Masters Program Office. Our Masters of Public Affairs Program is the second ranked in the nation, ahead of Harvard and 264 other universities. Faculty and staff here can help you choose among our MPA, our masters in arts administration or environmental science or our unique dual public affairs/environmental science degree. Whether you need help with fellowships or assistantships, want to join a student group or explore studying abroad, the answers are here.

Our graduate students have their own meeting, study, and conversation headquarters. If you’re working on a project, you’ll usually find a classmate to help you here. Walk from SPEA north toward Assembly Hall … home of Hoosier basketball … and you’ll find the newly renovated Briscoe Residence Hall in the heart of the northwest neighborhood. It is home to our Civic Leaders Center, our living-learning community for freshmen from all IU schools.

At the Civic Leaders Center, you can go to a SPEA class, attend a lecture, or just hang out with students who are interested in making a difference in their communities and in the world. The rooms are large and modern, the laundry’s free, and the social opportunities are unlimited.
