Located just a two-minute walk from the British Museum, you can also use our Center facilities to tackle projects, plan weekend trips, catch up on emails, or sit out back in our beautiful garden—a rarity in London!

Trafalgar Square

Set this view to memory: all 360 degrees of Trafalgar Square, also known as the heart of London. Hop off of the tube at Charing Cross, the square's former moniker, and find yourself surrounded by historic fountains and sculptures. From here you can easily stroll to some of London's famed galleries or check out the newest public art on display just over your shoulder.

London Eye

Step right up for the finest view of London! The London Eye, that massive steel "O" on the London skyline, stands 443 feet tall on the bank of the River Thames. With impressive digital light displays and unmatched views of some of the world's most famous landmarks, it's easy to see why the London Eye is Britain's most popular paid tourist attraction.

You tend to lose track of time when there's something new and fascinating around every corner. When you do, Big Ben is here to remind you (and within two seconds of perfect accuracy, always.) Impress your friends with this factoid: Big Ben is not actually the clock tower you see in front of you; it's the nickname of the bell inside.

St. James Park

Relax like a true Londoner here in St. James Park—the oldest of London's eight Royal Parks. The ponds, monuments, and wildlife seem almost untouched by time. If the tourist in you can't resist, the famous Changing of the Guard ceremony at Buckingham Palace is just steps away.

British Museum

You've heard of the Rosetta Stone, right? The Parthenon Sculptures? Step inside the British Museum and view them—along with some 8 million other items—without spending a penny. The world's first national public museum also features the largest covered public space on the continent: the Queen Elizabeth II Great Court. This world-class museum is also just a block away from IES Abroad's London Center.

Tower Bridge

Standing on Tower Bridge and looking up, we dare you to feel anything but awe. One of London's most recognizable bridges, it crosses the famed River Thames. From the bridge you can take in the sights and sounds of the city from a distance. If your timing is right, you may even witness the bridge's transformation as its bascules lift up, allowing water traffic to glide through.

Tate Modern

No study abroad experience in London today would be complete without at least one trip to the Tate Modern (it's also free!). Inside this very cool building, you can explore close to 70,000 pieces of art. You can also dine in style, collect gifts for friends and family, and flip through prints to decorate your room back home. For maximum enjoyment, visit the espresso bar on the third floor.

King's Cross Station

Come to King's Cross Station and connect with adventures both real and imaginary. For real adventures, grab more Underground connections here than at any other station on the main line. You can even hop across the street and take a high-speed train to destinations like Paris or Brussels. For adventures of the imagination, glance for signs of Harry Potter; King's Cross was his point of departure on the Hogwarts Express.
