Slane Student Center

The Slane Student Center is a hub of activity for students. Slane is home to three restaurants, a Starbucks, the bookstore and HPU Rec Services. Our NCAA Division I athletes have their own facilities, so this two-story fitness facility is used for intramural and recreational purposes. Our full-court basketball gym gives you the freedom to shoot around at your leisure, and also the space to meet up with friends to play 5-on-5. Our high-performance aerobics and group exercise rooms offer a variety of classes from yoga to kickboxing and everything in between. The upper level facility is equipped with state-of-the-art aerobic machines, while the lower facility houses our free weights and machines.

HPU’s men’s and women’s basketball programs found a new home inside the Qubein Arena. The Tubby and Donna Smith Court is the hardwood home where the Panthers take on other NCAA Division I opponents in the Big South Conference.

The Nido and Mariana Qubein Arena and Conference Center, and the adjoining Kahn Hotel, form a multipurpose hub. The four-story, 220,000-square-foot facility gleams windows that span from top-to-bottom of a lobby and grand staircase. Signature sculptures of the HPU panther line the main entrances with university pride, and the road leading to its new, main entrance is called Panther Drive. On any given day, you’ll find 4,500 seats in the arena filled with roaring fans cheering on HPU’s men’s and women’s basketball teams or a concert with a band like Train, an American rock group known for chart toppers like “Drops of Jupiter.”

Here we are in the field of Vert Stadium where High Point University has hosted Big South Championships and Southern Conference tournaments. In front of you is Witcher Athletic Center and Vert Stadium. Home to our men's and women's lacrosse, soccer and track and field teams. This building is equipped with state-of-the-art training facilities, enhanced locker rooms and plenty of study space. HPU students receive free tickets to all HPU athletic events and will see some of the top programs in the country at Vert Stadium. The soccer programs challenge for Big South Conference titles on a yearly basis, while the lacrosse teams compete with nationally-ranked opponents every year. In addition, the track and field team hosts the annual VertKlasse Meeting in the spring, a showcase of over 1,500 athletes from around the East Coast. The Jerry and Kitty Steele Sports Center houses a majority of the High Point University Athletic Department's administration and day-to-day operations. Here you will find coach offices and locker rooms for baseball, men's and women's cross country and track & field and men’s and women’s golf.

Kester International Promenade

The Gene and Jane Kester International Promenade is lined with international flags that represent the HPU student body and their countries of origin. The promenade serves as an outdoor classroom, with wifi, classical music that plays throughout the day, and sculptures of famous historical figures that are found along many of the benches. The Henley and Finch fountains prominently anchor both ends of the promenade. Lined on both sides by academic buildings, this area serves as the primary route to and from classes. The promenade also features inspirational quote markers from historic global leaders, in addition to expansive green space.

We are currently outside the Hayworth Fine Arts Center. Students in music or drama programs may use the Pauline Theatre located inside. This is also the location of the President's Seminar on Life Skills. In this required freshman course, students attend a weekly seminar on fiscal literacy, persuasive speaking, and the art of negotiation. This class is led by HPU's president, Dr. Nido Qubein, an entrepreneur and consultant to CEOs. HPU is committed to surrounding students with an environment that motivates and inspires learning. This is why we regularly host internationally acclaimed thought leaders such as Steve Forbes, Malcolm Gladwell, Seth Godin, and John Maxwell. These thought leaders interact with the student body, helping students discover their own path to personal growth and leadership.

At the west end of the promenade, you will find Hayworth Chapel and the Religious Life Office and Norton Hall, home to the David R. Hayworth School of Arts and Design. HPU is the only private college in North Carolina, and one of only a handful nationwide, to offer students the opportunity to study in visual arts programs that are accredited by the National Association of Schools of Arts and Design. High Point's status as the home furnishings capital of the world makes the area an ideal learning lab for those interested in manufacturing, interior design, visual merchandising, and international business. With more than 10 million square-feet of showroom space downtown, the bi-annual High Point International Home Furnishings Market is the largest home furnishings market in the world, and the highest revenue-generating event in the state, attracting more than 160,000 visitors from over 100 countries.

Plato S. Wilson School of Commerce

The Plato S. Wilson School of Commerce is designed to teach our students the value of confidence and professionalism. When students graduate and go into their first interview, they will be prepared to walk into the finest corporate headquarters because they have already studied in such an environment. It's an environment that inspires excellence. This building also contains the Truist Boardroom, which hosts HPU's Annual Business Plan Competition. The competition, which is open to all undergraduates, gives students the opportunity to develop a business plan and compete for start-up funding. A panel of judges consisting of entrepreneurs, investors, and local business leaders evaluate each plan and select the winners.

Caine Conservatory

"The Caine Conservatory is a place for students, faculty, and staff, to gather for fellowship, quiet studying, and peaceful reflection. It features a classroom, a working greenhouse, an eatery called The Butterfly Café, and a planting display space. Named for Don and Teresa Caine, the Caine Conservatory is an oasis of tropical plants where you will experience the lush rainforests of the world under the nearly 70ft glass roof. Inside, you will find towering live green walls, a waterfall garden, a canopy of palm trees, fragrant orchids, and much more. The mission of the conservatory is to improve the well-being of the campus community through the inspirational design of our diverse tropical plant collection and to improve student education through hands-on experiences in botany, horticulture, conservation, and research.

Wanek School of Natural Sciences

The Wanek School of Natural Sciences reflects the amazing growth High Point University has experienced in recent years. The $65 million, 128,000-square-foot facility opened in 2019 as a part of the 350 million dollar Innovation Corridor. Wanek features four stories of innovative lab and classroom space providing opportunities for undergraduate research, preparation for graduate school, and faculty mentorship. Inside the school's lobby, you'll notice orange, green and blue colors climbing the walls. Those colors represent the earth's core, the earth's surface and the atmosphere. One defining space is the 6,000 square foot Culp Planetarium - a state-of-the-art tool for teaching students across the sciences.

The Culp Planetarium in the Wanek School of Natural Sciences not only represents a state-of-the-art tool for teaching undergraduates but is also a vehicle for faculty and students to inspire the next generation of scientists and artists around the North Carolina triad. Our programming extends well beyond just astronomy. Our Spitz SciDome system boasts powerful software that allows us to “fly through” 3D models of the human body, explore geological and other earth science demonstrations, and even execute virtual physics experiments.

The Hive

This is just one of many spaces where HPU students can come to study or meet with a faculty mentor for a closed-door meeting. Congdon School of Health Sciences

Opened in 2017, the new state-of-the-art, Congdon School of Health Sciences and Fred Wilson School of Pharmacy, is a 224,000-square-foot complex that houses the physician assistant studies, pharmacy and physical therapy programs at HPU. The facilities include: the human biomechanics and physiology lab; advanced laboratory space; practical exam rooms; problem-based learning rooms; research and clinical labs; a 370-seat lecture hall; study spaces; class and conference rooms. The building was designed to foster inter-professional education among the health profession programs on campus while facilitating modern biomedical research in all of the pharmacy disciplines.

Human Biomechanics Lab

The Human Biomechanics and Physiology Laboratory consists of 16,000 square feet of awe-inspiring research, teaching and clinical space. This area is designed to foster interdisciplinary collaboration and can be presented by describing its 3 different areas: a biomechanics area, a physiology component and a clinical component. The biomechanics area consists of a large, open space surrounded by more than 50 motion capture cameras and featuring 14 force plates and an instrumented treadmill. This area also boasts truly unique functional motion capture areas with a golf simulator, turf field and wooden court surface. The physiology component of the lab is highlighted by the environmental chamber which allows researchers to reproduce extreme conditions in temperature, humidity, and elevation. This area also has a wet lab, some of the most unique treadmills in the world, metabolic carts, a wireless EMG for tracking muscle activity and a DEXA scanner, the most accurate way to perform body fat analysis. The lab's clinical component provides clients and research subjects with access to private and semi-private treatment areas and a strength and conditioning area that concentrates on fun and unique ways to prevent injury, improve performance or rehabilitate from injury.

Welcome to the Stout School of Education where expert faculty prepare teachers, principals, superintendents and executive educators for roles across the nation and internationally. The Stout School of Education is nationally accredited by the Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation and is ranked in the top 10% of educator preparation programs by the National Council of Teacher Quality. In the Stout School of Education, scholars can choose from a variety of majors and minors including Education Studies, Elementary Education, Health and PE, Athletic Coaching, Middle or Secondary Education, Spanish Education and Special Education. In addition to traditional Master of Arts and Master of Education degrees, High Point University also offers a unique BA to M.Ed. program that allows scholars to complete a bachelor’s and master’s degree within 5 years. Nido R. Qubein School of Communication

The Nido R. Qubein School of Communication uses top technology and facilities to educate students in a real-world setting. Students majoring in communication have 24-hour access to a state-of-the-art building equipped with the latest professional digital equipment. It includes two high-definition television studios, a gaming and interactive media design lab and maker space, an Esports competition arena, digital editing bays, dedicated podcasting studio, voice-over booth, multiple PC and Mac labs, and a biometric evaluation lab for assessing how people respond to advertisements and media messages. The Nido Qubein School of Communication balances theory and application courses in a multidisciplinary environment, enabling students and faculty to think, speak, write and produce strategic messages about a broad range of ideas and issues. Each year the top incoming communication majors are granted membership into the Communication Fellows Program. The fellows partake in projects in a client/agency model and travel internationally to examine trends in the media industry.

Cottrell Hall

Students are inspired, in part, by the environment in which they work to dream big and strive for greatness. High Point University has applied that principle to the 43,000-square-foot, Cottrell Hall, home to the Flanagan Center for Student Success. Cottrell Hall opened in Fall 2015 after being completely funded by gifts from parents of HPU students. Inside, the university has expanded experiential learning opportunities while also bringing them together under one roof. From Career and Professional Development, to Internship Resources, to an Entrepreneurship Center, students develop the ability to connect the dots between the experiences amassed during their time at HPU. Collaboration is fostered in the glass walls featured throughout. An international theme is embedded in the design with a globe in the form of a chandelier, an airport concourse that serves as study space, and all the offices and support staff that are placed intentionally here to guide students to compete on a global platform. The building features unique study space, an Entrepreneurial lab, mock-interview rooms and a world-class Starbucks.

R.G. Wanek Center

The R.G. Wanek Center is a 277,000 square-foot-facility that includes four restaurants, a Starbucks, a convenience store, a full-size movie theatre, an arcade, and our Learning Commons. In addition, the Wanek Center houses two of our residence halls. The four restaurants in the Wanek Center are The Point, a sports grill; The Bakery, a Panera-type restaurant; The Farmers Market, which features fresh locally-grown produce; and 1924 Prime, a learning lab where students learn the art of fine dining and proper dining etiquette. Speaking of food, did you know that HPU was ranked #1 nationally in Aramark's Annual Student Satisfaction Survey of College Food Options? Located on the third floor of the Wanek Center, the Learning Commons is an extension of the Smith Library, the main library on campus. The Learning Commons is staffed with a full-time librarian. Here you can check out and return books and electronics. There are PCs and Macs available for students, and a business center where students can print and make copies for free. The Learning Commons also features a large group study room. You can study inside or outside on either of the two balconies overlooking campus, as the campus is 100% wireless. HPU brings the library to students by providing comfortable study spaces all around campus.

1924 Prime

While some schools offer an etiquette course for seniors before they graduate, HPU offers 2 fine-dining learning labs that students can experience during all four years at HPU. Here we are inside 1924 Prime where students are exposed to business and social etiquette, global culture and international cuisine. No cell phones allowed! During the experience in this restaurant, students learn to engage with others while using professional etiquette. This prepares them for a lifetime of success. Just picture it: After you accept the job offer, your boss asks you to take an international client to dinner. Or, you’re meeting colleagues after work to offer a major proposal. Whatever the scenario, you’re ready.

University Center II

Here we are in the courtyard of University Center II. This dorm, which is co-ed by floor, features plush living where all rooms are two-person suites with full-size beds, microwaves and refrigerators. UC II also features large semi-private bathrooms with solid granite countertops, marble-tile flooring, and maple wood cabinetry. Just like all residence halls, UC II is locked 24 hours a day, and only students who live here have key card access into the building. Safety and security is top priority at HPU, that's why we were voted one of the top 25 safest college campuses in America.

Caffey Hall

Caffey Residence Hall opened in Fall 2017. It is an exclusive living community for upperclassmen students. The hall houses 309 students in 1, 2 or 4 person units. Each unit has private bedrooms, kitchenette, living room and semi-private bathrooms. Caffey Hall also has a community kitchen, game and theater rooms, exercise room, recreation facility, outdoor balcony lounge, two laundry facilities and a variety of private and group study spaces.

Upperclassmen Housing (Greek Village and Centennial Square II)

This townhome-style community houses 369 students in nine buildings, which includes a meeting house with study space, a business center and recreation center. It includes luxurious furniture with full-size beds and built-in shelves, mirrored armoires for handling clothes and storage, a media chest, chest of drawers and a coat closet. Students here have convenient access to all the amenities now available in the new Cottrell Hall, complete with a Starbucks and outdoor fire pits. This first-class facility gives students plenty of quiet space to study and relax outside of the classroom.

Blessing

Did you know that 95 percent of students live on campus all four years at HPU? Here at High Point University, we have a residential campus with an emphasis on community. You'll be inspired to grow with and enjoy other people so you can build relationships, find common ground, solve problems and have fun along the way. This is Blessing — one of our residence halls. Blessing Hall features two, three and four-bedroom apartment suites with one student in each bedroom. Each suite is equipped with a full kitchen and a fully furnished living room and dining room area. The private bedrooms come furnished with a bed, dresser, and desk area. Like all of our residence halls, Blessing Hall has central heating and cool systems, complimentary internet, cable and laundry, and comfortable study areas.

Smith Library

Housing more 265,000 volumes and 180,000 ebooks, Smith Library is HPU's main library. Open 24-hours-a-day, Smith Library's friendly librarians provide a range of services including research assistance, one-on-one research and citation help, 24/7 convenient chat service and much more. The top floor of Smith houses the main book collection and is reserved for individualized studying, while the lower level includes an instructional lab and is designed for group study. Smith Library is also home to the Office of Academic Development, which provides free tutoring for all academic classes on campus.

Patriot's Plaza

At HPU, students learn that their values are the foundation on which they stand. One demonstration of this is Patriots plaza, located outside of the R G Wanek building. Here students can gather around red, white and blue seats located in the heart of campus. There is a waterfall fountain featuring a circular pool at the top that creates a waterfall that feeds into a crescent pool below. Both of the fountains prominently feature many color-changing LED lights. Each year the HPU Young Americans for Freedom organize the ""9/11 never forget project"". Students, faculty, and staff gather here in Patriots Plaza to place nearly 3,000 American flags in the ground. Each of the flags represents one person who lost their life that day.
