The Clarendon Bell
Tour stop audio transcript
Gordon College was founded in 1889 as the Boston Missionary Training Institute by Reverend Dr. Adoniram Judson Gordon at Boston's Clarendon Street Baptist Church. The bell pavilion houses the original bell from that church as a marker of our roots. Dr. Gordon saw the need for educated Christian workers around the globe, and was bold enough to accept students not normally admitted to traditional higher education institutions. Over 130 years later, that Boston-based institution has grown into this 485-acre campus, home to more than 1,600 students from over 40 Christian traditions. We remain rooted in the original vision of A. J. Gordon to equip individuals for lives of impact worldwide.

Residence halls are more than just a place to sleep; they're a place to call home and build lasting friendships. Here, Christian community is emphasized as students grow spiritually, emotionally, academically and socially together. Approximately 90% of our students live on campus, and first-year students are integrated into residence halls with sophomores, juniors and seniors to foster connection. There are three styles of residence halls on campus: traditional, suite-style and apartments. All halls have a lounge, a kitchen that is open 24/7 and free laundry. Each hall's full-time resident director helps make sure students are thriving.
