Residence Halls

Most of our undergraduate students, and many of our graduate students, live in residence halls on campus ranging from traditional dorm style to suites and apartments. We call them "Living Learning Centers" because they are much more than dorms; these residence halls are where students get together to study, to work on service projects, and to socialize. They are located a short walk to Duquesne's academic buildings, dining and other campus amenities. The Towers Living Learning Center also has a pool and the largest student-dining hall on campus. Oh, and laundry is free in all buildings. Just bring detergent.

Duquesne is not your typical student dining experience. With 11 student dining locations on campus, you can choose from a wide variety of delicious and healthy meals featuring local and sustainable food sources and special options for every diet and taste. Here at Towers Residence Hall, you will find the all-you-care-to eat Hogan Dining Center, our largest dining location, as well as the Campus Market for grab-and-go snacks, salads and sandwiches. We also have Starbucks, Chick-fil-a, Cinco Cantina and Freshens. And look out for special food pop ups and food truck days that happen during the year.

Research Opportunities

As part of the University's mission, students are encouraged to take advantage of the University's excellent faculty-student ratio and conducive research environment to learn through true hands-on opportunities. Students of all majors have the opportunity to participate in research beginning freshman year with our annual undergraduate research and scholarship, and graduate research, symposia. the opportunity to present research and scholarship, place a mark of distinction on their resumes, and network with peers, faculty, and the public. These research opportunities have paid off in top national honors such as Fulbright, Goldwater and Congressional Medal of Honor Foundation scholarships.

Recreation

The Power Center is another popular place on campus. The recreation center consists of 4 floors and 80,000 square feet housing specialized exercise equipment, weight rooms, a basketball court, fitness and dance studios, locker rooms, and an indoor track. You can also find intramural leagues and sports and over 60 group fitness classes! The ballroom on the 5th floor hosts various speakers and events you can attend and enjoy the view of the city while you're there. A campus bookstore and cafe are located on the ground level of the Power Center, along with Freshens for smoothies and yogurt.

Athletics

The Duquesne Dukes 19 varsity athletics teams compete at the NCAA Division I level, the majority of which are members of the Atlantic 10 Conference, widely recognized as one of the top basketball-only leagues in the country. You can catch the men's and women's basketball teams, as well as volleyball, in the newly-renovated UPMC Cooper Fieldhouse. While the football team, which competes in the NCAA Football Championship Subdivision, as well as both soccer and lacrosse teams all play on Rooney Field, located in the center of campus. Rockwell Hall is home to the Palumbo-Donahue School of Business - an AACSB-accredited school, offering bachelors, masters, and executive education programs. Our business students have access to cutting-edge facilities; including a maker-space, investment center as well as other Centers of Excellence in Supply Chain Management, Entrepreneurship, and Professional Selling. The law school has moot courtrooms, a legal writing center, study areas, and a law library, along with a coffee shop, lounge and offices for student organizations. From performance to music technology, education and therapy the Mary Pappert School of Music has the faculty, resources, and a wide variety of undergraduate, graduate, and dual-degree programs to prepare you for a successful career. We are an "All Steinway" school, with more than 60 rehearsal and performance spaces, as well as recording studios and music technology labs. Our School is home to two acoustically superb and technologically sophisticated concert venues that are ideal for recitals and chamber ensemble performances. Welcome to Bayer Hall, home to the School of Pharmacy and Graduate School of Pharmaceutical Sciences. Since 1925 the school has been recognized as one of best in the nation among private pharmacy schools and ranked as top Catholic pharmacy school in country by U.S. News. Our largest program is our six-year freshman to PharmD Program, which continues to have stellar job placement rates. Graduate offerings include an online PharmD program and multidisciplinary Master of Science and PhD programs. College of Osteopathic Medicine

At the College of Osteopathic Medicine (DUQCOM) students will be a part of something bigger than themselves. The Gumberg Library is a five-story building with quiet floors, group study areas and unique special collections, as well as access to printed books, e-books and databases. The Gumberg Library is not only an important resource hub, but also offers students access to technology, resources for class work, and free cultural events. The library is run by faculty and staff who can help you find materials in the library or around the world, schedule one-on-one consultations to help with research, and teach classes on helpful resources. The library even offers 24/7 hours during finals.
