Since opening our doors 30 years ago in what has become a New York City landmark, Caliente Cab has been transcending geography to bring you Mexican cooking from the country’s diverse culinary regions. From the Peninsula of Yucatan to the heart of Puebla, the menu at Caliente Cab features regional, seasonal and chef specials – a reflection of our travels across Mexico as well as Chef Alfredo Vicuna’s indigenous kitchen. The experience begins the moment that you walk through the door, where our chefs are preparing made-to-order salsas and individually hand-pressing the corn tortillas at our live salsa station adjacent to our stocked tequila bar. Simmering in the kitchen are rich, flavorful sauces and marinades that are slowly building flavor, as well as signature spice blends that amaze and excite the palate with the fresh, bold taste of Mexico. The restaurant’s legendary frozen margaritas, guacamole and world-class sizzling fajitas remain time-honored classics, while our growing list of hand-swilled tequilas, mezcals, and fresh fruit margaritas invigorate our beverage program with history, culture and tradition. The culinary tour that our menu takes across Mexico—from Oaxaca to Guadalajara—is symbolized by our 1950’s Studebaker taxicab that’s parked on the curb outside the restaurant. The “Taco Taxi” is an emblem of our commitment to continuously discover and bring the flavors of the cocinas, cantinas and street carts of Mexico to the tables at Caliente Cab.
