Tour stop audio transcript
Welcome to Penn! My name is Karim. I'm from Cairo, Egypt and I'm a student in the Management & Technology Program, studying systems engineering, marketing and entrepreneurship. I will be one of your tour guides today. Before we start the tour, I'd like to provide a land acknowledgment. Philadelphia occupies the traditional homeland of the Lenni-Lenape. Penn recognizes this fact and expresses gratitude to indigenous people, both past and present, for the opportunity to live and learn on Lenapehoking, land of the Lenape. Through this virtual tour, we hope you will learn about Penn and more! Before we get started, let me explain the many ways you can explore our beautiful space. You can click on the forward-facing arrow to start walking around. You can jump to the next stop by clicking on the "Next" button. Now, if you already know where you want to go, you can select any location by using the list OR by clicking directly on the map. Lastly, remember that you can explore any particular location in more detail by clicking the supplemental icons. Our first stop is College Green, one of Penn's many open spaces that brings our campus community together for gatherings and traditions, and connects our traditional campus to the urban environment of Philadelphia. Penn has four undergraduate schools all of which are located on campus in West Philadelphia. When you apply to Penn, you choose one school or Coordinated Dual Degree program which will serve as your home-base institution; however, every student at Penn has an interconnected academic, social and residential experience. That's because Penn was founded by Benjamin Franklin, an individual who refused to be defined by just one thing. Franklin's vision inspires our academic landscape where students have access to coursework and resources across all four schools and share spaces like College Green.
