> At Research & Scholarship Day in April, we interviewed Mallory Gott, a student in the Physical Therapy program. Alongside Ashley Cummings, Amelia Hanning, Madison Rowe, Dr. Michelle Slike and Courtney Wasson, Gott developed a workshop aimed at educating cancer survivors on the benefits of physical therapy. After seeing positive results, the team hopes their workshop will serve as a model for similar initiatives in the future. #hussonu #hussonresearch #physicaltherapy

> During Research and Scholarship Day, we had the opportunity to speak with Katherine Aubin Hoyle about 'The Chance To Dance' project she created with Brooke Dempsey, Abigail Lawrence and Katey Howland. This project aimed to explore the benefits and barriers of adaptive dance for children and young adults with mental or physical disabilities. Their research revealed that adaptive dance programs significantly boost confidence and foster a strong sense of community among participants. Looking ahead, they hope to see increased access to such programs, with Occupational Therapists playing a crucial role in making this a reality. #hussonu #hussonresearch #occupationaltherapy
> During Research and Scholarship Day, we had the opportunity to talk to April Warner, a student in the Pharmacy program, about her research project created with Spencer Canham, Dr. Shuhua Bai and Dr. Tianzhi Yang. The project entitled, “Investigating Blueberry-Derived Exosomes as a Novel Approach in Neurodegenerative Disease Therapy” looks at how blueberries could potentially be used to slow neurodegenerative diseases. #hussonu #hussonresearch #pharmacy
> Emily Erskine, a graduate student in Husson’s MBA in Healthcare Administration & Public Health program, interned at Martin’s Point Health Care in Portland, ME this summer. During the internship, she gained hands-on experience in the provider data side of healthcare by using tools like Salesforce and Q-NEX to ensure data accuracy and by conducting provider outreach. This internship allowed her to apply the diverse skillset she’s developed throughout the program with courses like Public Health, Global Health, Healthcare Law & Ethics, Data Design and Strategic Change Management. Additionally, Emily had the opportunity to network with other interns from across the state this summer. The pantry is typically open on the last Thursday of every month from 2 - 4 pm in the D. Bruce MacGregor Sports Hall of Fame Room in the Newman Gym. This effort is made possible thanks to the hard work of volunteers in Student Government and Student Life, who help assemble and distribute the care boxes. > In September of 2019, Husson University built a permanent Wellness Center on campus between O’Donnell Commons and the Gracie Theatre. In addition to providing a place to help students when they are sick, injured, or experiencing a mental health challenge, the Wellness Center is also home to simulation manikins. These manikins provide nursing, occupational therapy, physical therapy, counseling and pharmacy students with the opportunity to practice their skills in an educational setting before entering real-world scenarios. In 2009, Husson constructed the Gracie Theatre, which provided the campus with a venue suitable for concerts, theatrical performances as well as academic presentations and events. Within the same building, the Anderson Alumni Lounge and the Beardsley Meeting House were also established. This expansion has supported numerous learning avenues and has created opportunities to enrich student life.
