Science Hill represents the center of Yale's Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics programs. Yale hopes to develop scientists and engineers who ask profound questions about the way things work. Here you will find innovative and creative leaders who push forward for answers, combining their pioneering research with the special capacity for teaching that has always been treasured at Yale. Research with a capital “R” is about discovering something that nobody else has ever known. Yale undergraduates have that opportunity, since so many are doing their own research as early as the summer after their freshman year. While working with and learning from faculty at the forefront of some of today’s most exciting breakthroughs in all disciplines, Yale undergraduates have discovered new species, created new technologies, developed and patented new products, and co-authored original research.
