Welcome to WPI! This statue outside of Bartlett Center depicts WPI mascot Gompei the Goat, honoring the live goat that was gifted to the Class of 1893. Gompei is named for one of WPI's first international students, Gompei Kuwada, who served as goatkeeper. Among his accomplishments in mechanical engineering, Kuwada later became known as the "Father of American Football" in Japan. We hope you'll enjoy exploring and learning about WPI! You won't see every building on campus in this tour, as we've created a curated experience that allows you to explore WPI while being mindful of your time. Here, we empower our students to imagine anything and innovate everything.
