Welcome to Western Illinois University (or WIU), home of the Fighting Leathernecks! Since its establishment in 1899, WIU has expanded to become a one-of-a-kind academic institution in the region. The University is one of only a few in the state to offer programs in Forensic Chemistry, Supply Chain Management, and Construction Management. It's also home to the only Sports Broadcasting Production program in Illinois and the fourth-largest Law Enforcement and Justice Administration program in the country. WIU has graduated professional athletes, Olympic gold medalists, Pulitzer Prize-winning journalists, and business leaders. Browne Hall is home to the Department of Theatre and Dance and the School of Music. Performing arts students can choose from a range of majors including Music Business, Music Therapy, Jazz Studies, Composition, Theatre and Musical Theatre. The Hall contains studios, classrooms, offices, and a 387-seat theatre. The College of Fine Arts and Communication has additional performance venues in Horrabin, Simpkins and Brophy halls.

Garwood Hall is headquarters for WIU's Department of Art. Here, students and faculty make use of spacious studios with abundant natural light, covering disciplines ranging from Woodworking to Graphic Design and many more. Art History courses take place in neighboring Tillman Hall. The University Art Gallery is located between these two buildings.

Knoblauch Hall features state-of-the-art construction management, graphic communication and manufacturing facilities to support the Engineering Department. The Hall also showcases the culinary creations of the Knoblauch Café and the Daily Grind coffeehouse, courtesy of the Department of Dietetics, Fashion Merchandising & Hospitality. In addition to its academic base here at Knoblauch Hall, WIU's School of Agriculture has access to 700 acres of cropped farmland in the area.

The Leslie F Malpass Library is where you'll find WIU's largest reference collection. Though you may be here to browse through books, journals, maps and media, you can also take advantage of the Library's multiple lounges, open lab computers and special collections. The fifth and sixth floors are where you'll find serious studying taking place, and also on six you'll find the Center for Innovation in Teaching & Research (CITR) and the Mary Lou Kent Room. You can visit the subterranean Mocha Café on a break and enjoy the view up through a 90-foot atrium.

Memorial Hall is where you'll find WIU's Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders. A host of helpful resources is available here in the Counseling Center, University Advising and Career Services. The newly-renovated structure also houses a computer lab, the Speech and Hearing Clinic, the Center for International Studies, and University Television.

Morgan Hall houses a wide array of academic departments. You might find yourself here for a class, lecture or lab in History, African American Studies, Foreign Languages & Literature, or Math, among others. The building boasts staffed computer labs and energy-efficient lighting.

Sallee Hall is where WIU's Department of Broadcasting is based. Students can get hands-on experience in production beginning freshman year, and they have access to professional-grade equipment and technology at the facilities onsite. Sallee also houses the Music Library, one of four libraries on campus, as well as several faculty offices for the Department of Music.

Sherman Hall, home to Undergraduate Admissions, was once the only building on campus and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places today. You'll find most of WIU's administration here at Sherman Hall, including the President, Vice Presidents, Provost and Board of Trustees. You might come here for business ranging from transcript requests to Financial Aid tracking.

This is Stipes Hall. Among the schools and departments you'll find inside are Accounting & Finance, Economics & Decision Sciences, and Computer Sciences & Information Systems. Just a couple of the building's special features include cutting-edge networking and microcomputer facilities, and the Dividends cyber café and coffee shop. By the way, if you're interested in pursuing a Master's degree in Computer Science, you're in good company; it's the most popular graduate degree at WIU.

Feel like bowling or playing pool tonight? Feeling hungry? Need to pick up a textbook or buy a bus ticket? You can do all that and more here at the University Union. If you have friends or family visiting you, you can investigate a range of accommodations at the University Union Hotel. The Union also features the uTech Computer Store, the basement-level Student Organization Center, and the Union Service Center, where students can cash personal checks and money orders.
