Gardner Plaza

Gardner Plaza, which lies just west of Ablah Library, was designed by Kenton Cox and dedicated in 1989 along with significant library renovations. The sculpture featured in the Plaza, "Reclining Figure (Hand)" is by British artist Henry Moore. The area is the site of ceremonies and other campus community gatherings, as well as providing a nice space to take a break from researching and studying.

Ablah Library

Ablah Library, WSU's main campus library, was designed by one of Frank Lloyd Wright's protégés and opened its doors in 1962, here in the heart of campus. The Library features a 24-hour study room, more than 150 computer workstations and 20 group study rooms in addition to its print and digital holdings. Students can visit the Book and Bean Coffee Shop for a hot beverage or snack during their visit. The Library also regularly displays art and hosts periodic events such as poetry readings and book signings.

Plaza of Heroines

Plaza of Heroines serves as a special tribute to women and is open to public contribution. The names of women designated as "heroines" are engraved in the bricks and granite all around. Funds from each tribute go toward the Center for Women's Studies scholarship fund. You can stop to read the names and enjoy the sculpture on display, Danseuse Espagnole, by Sophia Vari, on your way to the library, Grace Memorial Chapel or Clinton and Jabara Halls.

Ahlberg Hall

Ahlberg Hall is home to the WSU College of Health Professions. The facility provides the latest equipment and labs for students in programs ranging from medical technology to communication sciences and disorders. The College grooms future physical therapists, dentists, physicians assistants and nurses, right in the health care capital of Kansas.

Grace Wilkie Hall

Grace Wilkie Hall, originally a women's dorm, now houses a number of key student services offices. The Liberal Arts and Sciences Advising Center is here to help students meet their academic goals, and the Career Services Office is here to help students prepare for their next step. The Cooperative Education and Work-Based Learning Office connects students with real-world work opportunities while earning college credit. Grace Wilkie is also home to the Office of Disability Services.

Hesket Center

The Heskett Center is where students come to work out, dive in and wind down. In addition to offering full workout facilities, the Center features a pool, massage therapy and personal training. Currently-enrolled students can access the facilities for free with a valid membership card. More than 20 group classes and intramurals from flag football to sand volleyball are a great way to meet fellow Shockers.

Hubbard Hall

Hubbard Hall is a multipurpose facility housing classrooms, labs, and five high-capacity lecture halls. Inside are the departments of Biological Sciences, Counseling, Educational Leadership & School Psychology, and the Center for Research and Evaluation. The Hall also houses the WSU Play Therapy Center, one of only 13 accredited programs of its kind in the country.

Wallace Hall

Wallace Hall provides three stories of instructional, lab and office space for WSU's College of Engineering. The Hall also contains a machine shop and several engineering centers and institutes. Students in need of academic assistance can visit the GEEKS Tutoring Office and get on track in classes ranging from Algebra to Thermodynamics.

Jabara Hall

Jabara Hall, WSU's second-largest building, is home to a number of math and science departments. Students report here for classes in Physics, Electrical Engineering & Computer Science, Statistics, Psychology and Mathematics. Engineering students will find their advisers inside at the Engineering Advising Office. Jabara is also headquarters for the University Computing & Telecommunications Services.

National Institute for Aviation Research

World-class research happens right here on campus at the National Institute for Aviation Research. The 135,000-square-foot facility serves the aviation industry in both the public and private sectors with its findings and transfer technology. The Institute features 15 cutting-edge laboratories, exploring and testing areas such as Aging Aircraft, Crash Dynamics, Composites and Advanced Materials, and many more.
