Welcome to the University of Wyoming! We are here in Prexy's Pasture, the heart of UW's campus, giving a wonderful view of the university's iconic sandstone buildings that house many colleges. Believe it or not, this originally was a bison dwelling that became a pasture for UW's first president. Today, Prexy's Pasture serves as a beautiful place for students to recreate, relax, study or just enjoy Wyoming's blue, sunny skies. We hope you enjoy your visit to our beautiful campus.

Residence Halls Plaza

What you're looking at now is the Residence Halls Plaza. Equipped with picnic tables and a grassy area, this is a place for students on campus to relax before going to class or grabbing a meal at Washakie. North of the Plaza you'll find our bustling Fraternity/Sorority Row!

The residence halls are your home away from home! While living in the halls, you'll find lifelong friends and make lasting memories. Most rooms are double occupancy and come equipped with two extra-long twin beds that can be bunked or lofted, two chairs, two desks, closet spaces with drawers and one sink. Whether hanging out in your community lounge or hosting guests in your newfound space, your experience living on campus will be unforgettable. We even have university apartments for students who complete their first year!

Washakie Dining Center

Whether you live in one of the residence halls or purchase a meal plan, Washakie Dining Center is a great place to get a bite to eat and socialize with your fellow classmates. The wide array of food options includes a build-your-own sandwich bar, a pizzeria and a Mongolian grill. We even have vegan, vegetarian and gluten-friendly options for every meal! While there are specified mealtimes, there's all-day access to soups, salads, sandwiches and the breakfast bar.

Half Acre Recreation & Wellness Center

Education is more than just studying – it's an invitation to explore. Half Acre is a state-of-the-art fitness center that helps you feel your best in mind, body and soul. Here at UW, we have clubs and activities that not only help you stay active but also encourage you to get out of the classroom and investigate the world. Our Outdoor Program will even rent you canoes, climbing gear, snowshoes and other items you need for your next big adventure. The Wellness Center gives students the opportunity to take a step back and recharge mentally, equipped with everything from massage chairs, programs, a Zen Den and even a smoothie bike!

Wyoming Union

The Wyoming Union is the hub of campus and a focal point for student activities. There are a variety of things here to do here, including eating at the food court, purchasing textbooks and UW gear, watching a concert or comedy show, studying or playing a game of pool downstairs. Our student government offices are also housed here, along with many multicultural resources for students including the Rainbow Resource Center and the Multicultural Resource Center. You can find information about the many clubs and activities our students participate here as well. The Union is also a central stop for the UW transit buses that take you around campus and town.

Coe Library

If you're looking for a place to study, or to get help with assignments, this is the place to be. Coe Library has quiet and group study floors, computer labs, private study rooms and all the books and publications you need, with online networks linking to extensive databases. Coe Library also has equipment and spaces to help you dive into your creative passions with a podcasting studio, 3D printers, virtual reality and video creation equipment, crafting and a lab equipped with the entire Adobe Creative Suite. The Student Learning Commons is your one-stop shop for academic support and home to our Learning Resource Center, tutoring support and the Writing Center.

Athletics Complex

UW is a Division I member of the NCAA and the Mountain West Conference, with an abundance of intercollegiate men's and women's varsity sports. The Cowboys and Cowgirls have one of the strongest and most passionate fan bases across the country, being the only Division I team in the state. War Memorial Stadium and the Arena-Auditorium are major venues for many sports, and house some of the best facilities in the Mountain West – including the one-of-a-kind High Altitude Performance Center. Our students can attend athletics events free, and they give the Cowboys and Cowgirls a strong home-field and home-court advantage!

Science Initiative Building

Opened in 2022, this five-level structure houses state-of-the-art research laboratories, a large rooftop greenhouse, the Model Organism Research Facility, Center for Advanced Scientific Instrumentation and active-learning spaces for collaboration.

Engineering Education and Research Building

The Engineering Education and Research Building is a cutting-edge facility where modern technology meets experiential learning. Known on campus as the "EERB," this facility is home to one of the nation's best-equipped makerspaces, petroleum engineering drilling simulators, laser curtains, a vibration control room and collaborative spaces for students to study and interact.

Michael B. Enzi STEM Facility

At UW, there is an amazing opportunity for students to be involved in all types of research. And a lot of that research is done here, at the Michael B. Enzi STEM Facility, one of our laboratory buildings on campus. Whether your focus is chemistry, physics or biology, this is where you'll get the scientific foundation as an undergraduate to participate in research projects that are traditionally only available to graduate students at many other universities. It's another example of how UW combines the opportunities of a major research university with the advantages of a smaller school.

Buchanan Center for the Performing Arts

The Buchanan Center for the Performing Arts has established itself within the West as a leader in artistic and performing disciplines, attracting audiences from all over to attend performances in our top-tier facilities. Here at the University of Wyoming, the link between artistic expression and academic achievement is celebrated, and our students in dance, music and theatre are able to hone their craft by studying under professors who themselves are professionals and performers in their fields.

Visual Arts Building

Creativity starts here in the Visual Arts Building. This is where our art and design students create and display their works of art and our art education and art history students prepare for their future in teaching and research. With two galleries for student work and a main gallery exhibiting work by visiting artists, the facility is a source of inspiration. Across the parking lot, you'll find the UW Centennial Complex, home to the renowned UW Art Museum and the American Heritage Center. Visual arts students not only get unlimited access to the Art Museum, but they can submit their creative work to the juried student art exhibition held there.

Williams Conservatory

We're currently at Williams Conservatory, one of the campus' most stunning locations. This greenhouse, which can be found on the west side of campus in the Aven Nelson building, is home to more than 600 tropical, neotropical, temperate and arid species from all over the world. Our conservatory facilities are used by researchers, educators, students, artists, horticulture enthusiasts and the community. It's even a favorite study spot for students looking for warmer temperatures throughout Laramie's winters.

Vedauwoo

A less than 20-minute drive from campus, Vedauwoo offers students a getaway for outdoor activities. The unique rock formations are over 1.4 billion years old and give a perfect backdrop to students seeking solace. Nearby are numerous National and State Parks for mountain biking, kayaking and other activities. East of campus is Pilot Hill, an area where students can walk and bike in the city's foothills. Medicine Bow Peak and the Snowy Range Mountains are also must-see spots. Students who want to stick closer to town can enjoy relaxed walks on the Laramie Greenbelt Trail which connects to various parks and downtown Laramie, which offers dozens of restaurants and shops.
