Behavioral & Brain Sciences

UT Dallas' School of Behavioral and Brain Sciences focuses on the intersection of mind, brain and behavior, enhancing lives through innovative research and community outreach. Our professors and students collaborate on novel scientific discoveries, translating research into practical treatments. The school is organized into three major academic departments: Neuroscience, Psychology and Speech, Language, & Hearing. Economic, Political & Policy Sciences

Every generation inherits an increasingly complex world, demanding new thinking about the public policies that impact people's lives. In the School of Economic, Political, and Policy Sciences, or EPPS, we prepare students to address these complexities by focusing on practical solutions to real-world problems. Students engage with professors on critical issues, developing skills for a wide range of careers. In addition to our social science and policy degrees, EPPS offers six graduate STEM-designated programs, two undergraduate STEM-designated programs, and various combinations to help our students hone their competitive edge. Students who graduate with EPPS degrees go on to successful corporate careers for companies like Southwest Airlines and Comerica, work in the public sector for governments at all levels (including the city of Dallas), and attend prestigious post-graduate institutions.

Engineering & Computer Science

The Erik Jonsson School of Engineering and Computer Science is among the fastest-growing engineering and computer science schools in the United States. Strategically located in the Telecom Corridor, the Jonsson School has doubled in size since 2008 with the creation of four new departments and nine new degree programs. The school comprises six academic departments: Bioengineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Materials Science and Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, and Systems Engineering. Aiming to deliver robust engineering education, the Jonsson School produces versatile graduates whose technical and entrepreneurial skills allow them to provide leadership and outreach, becoming tomorrow's leaders in science, mathematics, high-technology education, and business.

Interdisciplinary Studies

The School of Interdisciplinary Studies offers flexible, individualized programs that prepare students for diverse career paths and advanced studies. Students can pursue degrees in American Studies, Education, or Healthcare Studies in preparation for careers in law, medicine, or teaching. Or, in consultation with their academic advisor, students can design an Interdisciplinary Studies degree drawing from multiple disciplines. Many students choose concentrations in environmental studies, sports management, or gender studies. Our Master of Arts in Interdisciplinary Studies allows graduate students to integrate academic disciplines, theories, and methodologies into their individualized academic and professional goals. As a student in the School of Interdisciplinary Studies, you are an active partner in formulating your program of study and designing your degree.

The Naveen Jindal School of Management at UT Dallas is the largest of the university's seven schools, enrolling over 11,000 undergraduate and graduate students. The Jindal School provides excellent tuition value, diverse on-campus and online classes, and rigorous real-world training. It offers undergraduate to executive-level programs across six specializations, partnering with businesses to address global, tech-driven challenges and enhance management knowledge. Established in 1962 to build a "Community of Scholars" in the Southwest, the School of Natural Sciences and Mathematics predates UT Dallas. Offering 30 degree programs in biological sciences, chemistry, mathematics, geosciences, physics, and science & math education, we continue its dedication to high-quality STEM enrichment. Home to the world-renowned Alan G. MacDiarmid NanoTech Institute, known for inventing carbon nanotube artificial muscles 100 times stronger than natural muscle, and the William B. Hanson Center for Space Sciences, where the instruments that discovered water on Mars were developed — STEM education at NSM is dedicated to empowering the next generation of doctors, scientists, and mathematicians through groundbreaking research.

Whether it's anxiety, classroom or roommate stress, relationship concerns, uncertainty about the future, or a desire to achieve greater emotional well-being, the Student Counseling Center is here for you. The Student Counseling Center at UT Dallas offers confidential support and provides access to licensed psychiatrists, psychologists, and counselors available by appointment, through apps, or any time of emergency. Through the Student Health Center you also have access to no- or low-cost care for acute and stabilized chronic illnesses, minor injuries, women's care, allergy injections, some pharmacy and radiology services, and preventive healthcare.

No matter what you are looking for, UTD has a community available to you. The university hosts students from over 130 countries, supported by the International Center and Intercultural Programs, which offer immigration services, cultural festivals, English support, and more. Other resources include the Military and Veteran Center, the AccessAbility Resource Center, the Career Center, the Communications Lab, and the Counseling Center, all dedicated to student success and well-being. And for all our students, safety is a priority at UT Dallas. The Student Patrol program, primarily comprised of criminology majors, conducts foot patrols, offers 24/7 walking escorts, and provides building entry assistance and other support services that do not require a commissioned officer.

Welcome to the home of the Comets! All 15 men's and women's varsity sports will compete at a NCAA Division II level, beginning in fall 2024. A Division III member since 1998, UT Dallas is excited to give students opportunities to achieve at the highest levels of competition — inside and outside of the classroom. As part of the move to DII, athletics will undergo a facility upgrade, enhancing its athletic infrastructure to compete at a higher national level. Go Comets!

Located on 12 acres at the southeastern edge of campus, the Edith and Peter O'Donnell Jr. Athenaeum is a new cultural district serving as a gateway to the University and a destination for the Dallas community to engage in arts and learning. It includes three buildings: a second location for the Crow Museum of Asian Art, a Performance Hall, and a proposed Museum for traditional arts of the Americas.

With its low cost of living and thriving business sector, DFW is a nationally ranked hub for career opportunities. Located about 20 minutes from downtown Dallas, UT Dallas provides various transportation options for students to get around. Hop on board the Comet Cruiser, a free shuttle service connecting students to local stores, apartments, and DART rail lines. With a Comet Card, students get a free DART Student Transit Pass for unlimited rides on DART buses, light rail, and trains. Zipcar offers on-demand car sharing for students with a valid driver's license and one year of driving experience.
