Welcome to the University of South Carolina Beaufort. Friends call us USCB. We're located in the heart of the South Carolina Lowcountry, midway between Charleston and Savannah, Georgia, on the state's eastern shore. We're the Sand Sharks, represented by Finnegan, our loyal mascot.
The weather is great here! We're minutes from the ocean and Lowcountry salt marshes, both of which figure prominently in some of our academic programs. This whole region is steeped in American history. Its architecture harkens back to colonial times. Our own historians trace the university's heritage to 1795 and the founding of Beaufort College.
Our 2,000 plus students attend classes on campuses in Bluffton, Beaufort and Hilton Head Island. We'll tell you more about our 21 academic majors, our honors programs, and our new Hilton Head Island Campus in just a minute.
But before we get started, let me explain how our virtual tour works. Right now, we're facing the Hargray Building on the Bluffton Campus. This is our main campus, home of the university administration, classrooms, lecture halls, our main dining hall, residential apartments for students, our recreation center, and so much more.
If you already know where you want to go, you can select any location by using the list OR by clicking directly on the map. You can explore a particular location in more detail by clicking on the 360, Photos, or Video icons.
Let's begin our tour on the Bluffton Campus. It's spread over 200 acres on the main route to Hilton Head Island from Interstate 95. Work on the campus began in 2003 when USCB was accredited to become a four-year, baccalaureate degree-granting institution. Here you'll find all the amenities needed to sustain your educational experience and enjoy college life.
