The heart of any university is its people. Here, that means students, faculty, staff, and members of the larger Omaha community. The people who make the University at Nebraska at Omaha such a vibrant and diverse place come from every walk of life. Some are first-generation college students like me. Others come from families that have attended UNO for generations. Our students come from right here in Nebraska, from all 50 states, and from over 68 countries around the world! At UNO, anyone can be a Maverick and if there is one thing Mavericks do, we pride our success by pushing the boundaries of what is possible!
There's an energy here that you won’t find anywhere else – it’s our Maverick Spirit in the air. And you know what? Our Maverick spirit is not restricted to our physical spaces, because Omaha is our campus. At UNO, we are addressing real issues through providing engaging learning opportunities that uniquely prepare our graduates to become leaders in their fields and active members of their communities. No matter where you find yourself in our city, one thing is clear: UNO has arrived!
(Indicating to her footwear - we see she’s wearing running shoes)
I wear my running shoes so I can get around campus quickly and make detours to stop and chat as I cross paths with our students. Today’s virtual visit is just a taste of what The University of Nebraska at Omaha has to offer. I hope to see you here in person soon (and when you come, remember to bring your running shoes too!)
