Welcome to the University of New Mexico, a large public research university founded in 1889 and located in Albuquerque. UNM offers more than 215 degree and certificate programs found within twelve different colleges and schools. The campus population is comprised of one of the country's largest representations of students and faculty who identify as either Hispanic or Native American. The University of New Mexico is continuously expanding its academic offerings and facilities to accommodate more students and growing needs. Let's take a look at the UNM campus!

Cornell Mall is an outdoor area located between the student union and an academic building. It has wide thoroughfares for all of the daily foot traffic, and features a large sculpture of fiesta dancers created by renowned artist Luis Jimenez. This area is also used for events like the annual Sustainability Expo.

The UNM Center for the Arts facility is just one of the creative venues of the College of Fine Arts. It houses an impressive four theatres that host Broadway shows, symphonies, plays, music recitals, and ballet performances. Keller Hall, one of the four theatres, houses a 1967 Holtkamp organ, the largest organ in New Mexico, containing 2,741 pipes.

The Johnson Center helps support the recreational and fitness goals of students at UNM. Gym facilities feature three basketball courts, a cardio exercise room, wrestling room, and a dance studio. Aquatic offerings inside the Johnson Center include a regulation-size Olympic swimming pool and a diving pool. Students can make use of the above either through physical education course offerings or on their own time.

The Student Union Building, nicknamed the SUB, is considered to be the bustling meeting area on campus. It is home to an array of services including banks, restaurants, barber shop, a movie theatre, and a computer lab. The third floor ballrooms host many events throughout the school year.

Smith Plaza is located in between the Humanities Building and the main library on campus. One of UNM's most visually pleasing traditions partly takes place here in Smith Plaza: the "Hanging of the Greens," when approximately 14,000 luminarias are displayed.

Built in 1948 and originally serving as a dormitory, Mesa Vista Hall is presently home to an assortment of university services and offices; these include African-American Student Services, the Financial Aid Office, American Indian Student Services, and the Women's Resource Center. In addition, multiple academic departments like the History Department make Mesa Vista Hall their headquarters.

Built in the Spanish Pueblo-Revival style, the Zimmerman Library is one of four libraries on the UNM campus. In addition to a plethora of research resources, the library is home to the Center for Academic Program Support (CAPS), which features free tutoring sessions and a Starbucks. In addition, headquartered here is the Center for Southwest Research, which is a repository for archival materials related to New Mexico and the Southwest.

The Student Health Center is home to Student Health and Counseling (SHAC), which administers health care to students at affordable prices. Both appointments and walk-in services are available, and for those students in need of a little relaxation, there are one-hour massages offered. This building is also where you can find the University Honors Program (UHP), which features classrooms, a lounge, and a computer lab.

Union Square is a plaza-like space found just north of the student union. It is a popular spot for relaxing under the numerous trees and also for skateboarding.

Woodward Hall houses Health Science classrooms and Media Technologies, the latter of which facilitates distance-learning classes and operates a production studio. Woodward Hall is also home to the Institute for Medieval Studies, which offers undergraduate and graduate degrees; in addition, it provides research opportunities for students and outreach programs in area secondary schools.
