Welcome to the Faculty of Kinesiology and Physical Education, where we explore all aspects of movement, from exercise physiology to ethical issues. Our Bachelor of Kinesiology program offers countless opportunities to gain hands-on experience and build a solid foundation to address contemporary issues related to health. We also offer a wide range of student supports through the Office of the Registrar and Student Services. From friendly academic advisors that can meet with you one-on-one to explore your personal goals, to career exploration workshops tailored to kinesiology students, our team will help you make the most of your university experience — inside and outside of the classroom.

Our multidisciplinary Bachelor of Kinesiology program (or BKin, as it’s often called) combines theory and practice across the curriculum, providing a plethora of hands-on learning experiences in practice-based courses, labs, tutorials, and community engagement initiatives. Sample courses include Introduction to Movement Observation and Evaluation, Fundamental Principles of Fitness and Exercise, Teaching the Child, Aging and also Adapted Physical Activity, which includes applied sessions in a field setting, working with diverse populations. Located at the heart of U of T’s St. George Campus, the Faculty of Kinesiology and Physical Education gives you the advantage of being immersed in one of the world’s leading research universities while also enjoying the support and camaraderie of a small, close-knit community of students, staff and faculty. Communal areas like the Benson Pool Gallery provide a space for kinesiology students to come together, strengthening the sense of community that the Faculty is known for. The Gallery provides collaboration space that enhances effective social and informal learning. The area includes mixed furniture and the gallery features Smart Glass technology, allowing views into the Benson Pool and Sports Gym.

In the BKin program, we apply a physical cultural, biophysical and behavioural lens to all aspects of movement. Upper year students can gain hands-on experience conducting research in our BKin research courses, working alongside a professor to learn research processes and methodologies. In the Iovate/MuscleTech Metabolism and Sports Science Lab led by Professor Daniel Moore, for example, students can assist with research focused on determining optimal nutritional strategies for human performance, health and function at all ages and stages. Students who take BKin research courses also get to present their findings at the annual national undergraduate research conference hosted by the Faculty!

At KPE, you'll learn from internationally recognized kinesiology researchers focused on innovation and knowledge translation, like Professor Catherine Sabiston. Professor Sabiston holds a Canada Research Chair in Physical Activity and Mental Health and leads MPARC, a research facility that develops and evaluates interventions to promote mental health and physical activity. Researchers at MPARC work with diverse populations, from cancer survivors to mental health service users to youth sport participants. Taking courses with accomplished scholars and scientists who bring their research and experience into the classroom and lab—that's how we move.

The David L. MacIntosh Sport Medicine Clinic has been treating sport-related injuries in the University of Toronto community for over 78 years. The Sport Medicine Clinic is a partner in the BKin In-Field Learning program, which gives students an opportunity to experience hands-on learning in a professional setting. Students work alongside and learn from some of the very best in the field, developing skills through job shadowing, and assisting with day-to-day workplace activities under the supervision of a mentor. A comprehensive sport medicine care facility, the clinic's staff includes certified athletic therapists, sport and manual physiotherapists, sport physicians and more.
