Welcome to the University of North Carolina Wilmington, one of the fastest-rising stars in the south! I'm Evan , your tour guide today. Before we get started, let me explain several ways to explore our beautiful campus. Click on the front-facing arrow to start walking around our campus. Approximately 25 percent is designated as conservation areas, which are zones of natural beauty with longleaf pines, massive oaks, dogwoods and native magnolias. We are North Carolina's coastal university and our mascot is the Seahawk, represented by this iconic bronze statue.

Hoggard Hall

Hoggard Hall, one of three original campus buildings, houses administrative offices. Many students won't declare their major until sophomore year and spend the first year in University College. Academic advisers in UC work one-on-one with students to navigate program requirements, course registration and major declaration. Students also have access to pre-professional programs to prepare for pre-health and pre-law graduate education pursuits. Hoggard is also home to the Office of International Programs – your source for study abroad trips, ESL courses, international research and internship opportunities. Studying abroad is extremely popular at UNCW. Twenty percent of the 2019 graduating class studied abroad!

Fisher Student Center

The Herbert and Sylvia Fisher Student Center houses a two-story bookstore, Einstein's Bagel and Sandwich Shop and the Lumina Theater, where blockbuster movies play on weekends. Buy textbooks, school supplies and official UNCW apparel at the bookstore; grab coffee, meet friends and study in comfortable areas where you can enjoy panoramic campus views from the Clock Tower Lounge. The Campus Activities and Involvement Center oversees nearly 300 student organizations, including Greek life, academic, faith-based and volunteer groups. The Fisher Student Center and Fisher University Union are at the heart of campus life. Connected by a windowed concourse that spans the Campus Commons, the Fisher Center and Union were constructed to give students a place of their own.

Fisher University Union

The Fisher University Union is the center of the Seahawk community. Plenty of food choices are available at the Hawk's Nest and POD Convenience Market. Fisher also offers a mail station, passport office and serves as the hub of diversity initiatives across campus, with programming offered by the Upperman African American Cultural Center, Centro Hispano and Mohin-Scholz LGBTQIA Resource Office. The Career Center provides professional development resources for current students and alumni. The Office of Transition Programs welcomes new students to campus during orientation and convocation and coordinates campus community events like Family Weekend and commencement.

Amphitheater

Located at the center of campus, the area around the amphitheater is known as the Campus Commons and includes several beautiful ponds. It's a great space for students to gather, musicians to entertain and faculty to hold a class outside. Chancellor's Walk, the main pedestrian artery on campus, runs adjacent to the area. At the head of Chancellor's Walk is the UNCW Clock Tower, a gift from the Class of 2000. The 50-foot clock tower is a campus landmark and a significant part of important campus events and memorial programs.

Randall Library

William Madison Randall Library is a place to study, work and collaborate. The Learning Commons is the center of the library. Work in pairs or groups, work with a librarian, read, access PCs or Macs, use HDTV/LCD plug-in displays, check out a laptop or get help with research at the Learning Commons Help Desk. You can also receive research assistance via live chat, text, email and phone or obtain in-depth help by appointment. The library houses a Digital Makerspace for access to emerging technologies, such as virtual reality and 3D printing, in support of digital creation. The iPrint Business Center, UNCW's full-service business center, offers everything from quick copies to creative designs and is located across from the Technology Assistance Center (TAC). Need a study break? Head over to the Port City Java coffee shop—right in the library! The Honors College, the Women's Resource Center, and other campus offices are on the second floor of the library. The second floor is reserved for quiet study.

Shore Dining Hall

Shore Dining Hall is a brand-new all-you-care-to-eat facility serving from a medley of culinary stations. Comfort food, Baja cuisine, Italian, and all-day breakfast are some of the choices, with allergen-friendly, vegetarian and plant-based options as well. Diners can make the meal that best suits their taste buds by mixing and matching from each station. Dine in, dine out in the courtyard or take out from Grab and Go lockers. Located directly on the "Hawk Walk," the space is slated to open in fall 2021.

Student Recreation Center

The 165,000-square-foot Student Recreation Center is an award-winning recreation facility housing four multipurpose courts; a two-court multi-activity gymnasium for basketball, volleyball, indoor soccer and team handball; three racquetball courts; the Harris Teeter Functional Training Area; 114 pieces of cardio equipment; 10,000 square feet of strength equipment; a fitness assessment center; two multipurpose group exercise studios; an indoor cycling studio; a 28-foot climbing wall with 1,900 square-feet of climbing surface; a walking/jogging track and an Adventure Recreation Resource Center. The aquatic facilities include an eight-lane, 25-yard lap pool equipped for water polo and volleyball, "Dive-In" movies and an outdoor leisure pool.

Wagoner Hall - Campus Dining

UNCW Campus Dining raises the bar with the all-you-can-eat menu at Wagoner Hall. The university is committed to serving fresh produce and locally produced foods, both are delivered to campus daily from local farmers. At "Wag," you can get a variety of food (American, ethnically-inspired foods, vegetarian and vegan alternatives) virtually any time of the day – perfect for meeting up with friends or grabbing something on the go. Campus Dining contributes to UNCW's sustainability efforts through a number of programs, including recycling, energy and water conservation and a composting program in partnership with New Hanover County.

University Film Center

The University Film Center is UNCW's newest building. Located in the back of campus off Riegel Road, the impressive space boasts a 4,000-square-foot soundstage and state-of-the-art 80-seat movie theater. The facility is outfitted with modern, industry-grade equipment, to which film students have 24/7 access. The production spaces offer hands-on training in digital cinematography, digital editing, sound recording, design and mixing. Screen Gems Studios was consulted in the design of the soundproof metal building, which is similar to a Hollywood studio.

Veterans Hall

Veterans Hall is one of UNCW's newest and largest academic buildings. The 145,000-square-foot facility is home to the College of Health and Human Services. The Office of Military Affairs has its own wing, which includes the Military Affairs Lounge, a welcoming, relaxing space for UNCW's 2,000+ military-affiliated students. The building is outfitted with state-of-the-art AV technology for interactive learning experiences.

McNeill Hall

McNeill Hall supports the degree programs and administrative offices in the College of Health and Human Services, including the School of Nursing, the School of Social Work and the School of Health and Applied Human Sciences. The 10,000-square-foot Simulation Learning Center is comprised of specialty labs, a clinic with exam rooms and state-of-the-art equipment, which provides realistic learning experiences. In addition, McNeill Hall houses a Student Success Center and Student Learning Commons, classrooms and an auditorium.

Teaching Lab Building

The Teaching Lab Building supports the teaching and research activities in the Departments of International Studies and Psychology. The building includes a number of specialized labs where students and faculty explore geographic information systems and conduct research involving neurofeedback, treatments, animal and human cognition and behavioral effects of substances. The modern building has been recognized for Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design.

Education Building

The Watson College of Education offers exceptional programs for students interested in teaching and graduate-level programs for those seeking a career in the fields of school administration, instructional technology and higher education. The Education Building features an Education Laboratory for one-on-one tutoring and a makerspace to promote creativity and exploratory learning. The Education Learning Community gives first-year students an opportunity to connect with peers and begin field experiences. The Watson College boasts award-winning partnerships with school systems throughout the region, strong ties to community partners and a Global Scholars program to support faculty and students' international engagement efforts.

Cultural Arts Building

In the Cultural Arts Building, theatre majors enjoy a state-of-the art proscenium theatre and a Black Box theatre equipped with the latest technologies. The Music Department's Beckwith Recital Hall permits musicians on stage to hear sounds identical in quality to what the audience hears. Large rehearsal rooms, percussion studios, a piano lab, 15 practice rooms and rooms for recording, archiving and editing give students the equipment and facilities they need to prepare for professional careers.

Dobo Hall

Dobo Hall is home to UNCW's Biology and Marine Biology Department and the Department of Environmental Sciences. The biology and marine biology curriculums are unique, combining a strong foundation in the sciences with the option of specialization. Because of UNCW's size, undergraduates can collaboratively work with Ph.D. faculty on their active academic research, often with the opportunity to be included in scientific literature and professional presentations. Students gain extensive fieldwork skills with the campus' proximity to the Atlantic Ocean and the state-of-the-art Center for Marine Science.

Cameron Hall

Cameron Hall is home to the Cameron School of Business, ranked among the Best Business Schools in 2019 by The Princeton Review. Cameron offers several major pathways, with the option to specialize in nearly a dozen business concentrations, including marketing, finance and international business. The Cameron Executive Network allow students to work with distinguished faculty and make connections with industry professionals, alongside networking events such as the annual Business Week. Service-oriented and student-focused, the Cameron School of Business develops leadership skills that benefit students and the communities they will serve.

Osprey Hall

Osprey Hall houses the Departments of Anthropology, Mathematics and Statistics, Biology and Marine Biology and Earth and Ocean Sciences. Within this building are smart classrooms, faculty offices and research laboratories, including Human Anatomy and Physiology Labs. With environmentally friendly lighting and infused technological advances, this is a building the Seahawk community is proud to put on display.

Congdon Hall

Inside Congdon Hall is the Congdon School of Supply Chain, Business Analytics, and Information Systems and the Computer Science and Informational Technology Departments. The building has several laboratories and smart classrooms equipped with the latest information technologies for collaborative education. The Financial Markets Room and the Edward Jones Financial Lab contain active stock boards and tickers. The financial lab also includes a Bloomberg Terminal. Students can obtain real-time quotes, make real-time data queries and trade stocks directly with the New York Stock Exchange and NASDAQ.

Leutze Hall

Leutze Hall is home to the Departments of Communication Studies, World Languages and Cultures and Public and International Affairs. Majors within these departments have broad scope to gain interdisciplinary skills and prepare for a variety of professions. Leutze Hall was designed with student input, and you will see a lot of special features, including lounge areas, warm and welcoming hallways, smart classrooms, and lots of light. UNCW Media Production hosts the Leutze TV Studio, where on-campus media is produced and students get hands-on experience with studio coursework.

Morton Hall

Morton Hall is home to the English and history departments. With numerous internship and study abroad opportunities, the English Department provides real-world experience and a valuable understanding of how language shapes our world. The History Department is a community of scholars who love to share their expertise with students. Half of the faculty are experts in parts of the world beyond the United States. Applied learning projects and experiences give history majors the chance to apply their knowledge and skills in other environments.

Bear Hall

Bear Hall is where the College of Arts and Sciences administrative offices are located. Each year, programs in the college and the general education program provide an assessment plan of student learning that includes a results report and recommendations for improvements to enhance learning outcomes, ensuring graduates the best broad-based preparation possible. The Gender Studies and Resource Center is also in this building.

King Hall

King Hall houses the Film Studies Department, another flagship program that includes the critical study of cinema as well as movie making. Students learn to write, develop, produce and edit their own fiction and nonfiction films with guidance from experienced faculty filmmakers. Wilmington is home to EUE/Screen Gems Studios and numerous motion picture production companies. Film professionals guest-teach courses and workshops on film production and motion picture industry careers. Students can participate in a number of film festivals in the Wilmington area, including the VISIONS Film Festival and Conference, organized and hosted by UNCW film students.

Kenan Hall

Kenan Hall is the home of the Department of Creative Writing, where up-and-coming writers learn from professional, published authors within a nurturing community. The undergraduate program is highly esteemed and the graduate creative nonfiction program is among the most respected in the country. The Publishing Laboratory is a classroom, professional micropress and an in-house book-publishing imprint. Undergraduates can earn a certificate in publishing studying printing, marketing, design, writing and editing.

DePaolo Hall

DePaolo Hall houses programs and services to help students focus on their health and wellness while succeeding academically. The University Learning Center offers study skills development, writing and math tutoring and supplemental instruction. All students are encouraged to take advantage of learning services offered at DePaolo, as services are included with your tuition. On the second floor, the Abrons Student Health Center and the UNCW Pharmacy provide health care services at little or no cost. Crossroads is a university program dedicated to the advancement of thoughtful and healthy decision-making regarding the use of alcohol, tobacco and other drugs. CARE is an educational resource center for help with difficult or unhealthy relationships.

Warwick Center

Inside the Warwick Center are additional student service offices, including the Office of Scholarships and Financial Aid, Auxiliary Services, Student Accounts and Cashier Services. Veterans Affairs-certifying officers within the Office of Financial Aid assist students who wish to use their GI Bill or VA vocational rehabilitation benefits for their education. Dub's Café is a major dining location with fresh local foods, a rotating menu and was the first 3-Star Certified Green Restaurant in Wilmington. The Office of Sustainability tracks and measures efforts on campus in the areas of energy efficiency, local and sustainable dining and catering and the availability and ease of alternative transportation.

D1 Athletics

Trask Coliseum, the cornerstone of UNCW's athletic programs and home of the basketball teams, is also the site of convocation, commencement, concerts and other community events. UNCW hosts 19 NCAA Division I Athletic Teams, including basketball, baseball, soccer and tennis. Many teams have taken home recent Colonial Athletic Association Championships and are active in the local community. The Seahawk Spirit is palpable – you can't miss the Screaming Seahawks at home basketball games.

Recreation Field Complex

The Recreation Fields feature an equipment check-out office, energy efficient lighting, two sports turf fields and two natural turf fields. This area houses the competitive sports program, intramural sports and sport clubs. Intramural sports are divided into men's, women's and co-ed leagues, with a league champion being crowned after a playoff. The sport club program has 30 active clubs (including basketball, volleyball, soccer, lacrosse, rugby, field hockey and ultimate Frisbee) for men and women.

The HUB - Campus Dining

The Hub provides serves food morning, noon and night. With three dining venues (MOOYAH Burgers, Fries and Shakes, Starbucks Coffee and a P.O.D. Market), the 10,000-square-foot, two-story space includes a lounge area for studying and meetings. The one-stop shop approach to a comprehensive student experience creates a literal "hub" to eat, meet and study.

The Herbert Bluethenthal Memorial Wildflower Preserve is a 10-acre memorial botanical garden located near the center of campus. Creative writing professor and author David Gessner said the woods "sit like a secret behind campus, a limited wild that is an oasis." The Gary Shell Cross-City Trail is a 15-mile bicycle and pedestrian network that connects the campus to parks, shops, beaches and other amenities across the community. A three-mile portion winds around campus, providing a scenic route for walkers, joggers and cyclists to enjoy.
