The College of Computing and Informatics (CCI) is the largest technology program in North Carolina and is 1 of 6 in the nation. The college is the leading provider of IT talent in the region, and connects with companies through the CCI Business Partners Program, which provides internships and aids in finding permanent employment upon graduation. Nearly 50 companies are partners of the program. High tech spaces in this college include a Makerspace, Ethical Hacking labs, Robotics Lab, Artificial Intelligence Lab, Game Design and Development Lab, and Visualization labs. With hands-on training and research opportunities for students, CCI works to support the rapidly growing IT field locally and globally.

Lee College of Engineering

The Lee College of Engineering places high value on learning by doing. Every year, students will collaborate on innovative hands-on design projects that challenge the status quo. Degree offerings include Mechanical, Electrical, Energy, Civil, Systems, and Computer Engineering. As North Carolina's Urban Research University, engineering students conduct research and learning through partnerships with local businesses and industry professionals with a focus on urban growth and development. Many of our faculty have worked as practicing engineers and are registered Professional Engineers in one or more states. At UNC Charlotte you will find over 400 student clubs and organizations. From honors societies, to sports, to service-based organizations, there is a lot to do on campus to help you gain new friendships, experiences, and opportunities. You also have access to multiple resources to help ensure your success. These include the University Center for Academic Excellence, which offers students further academic support and tutoring, the University Career Center, the J. Located in the heart of campus, the J. Murrey Atkins Library offers students a variety of study rooms, calssrooms, resources center, help desks and the newest technologies. From one-on-one consultations and classroom instruction to library tutorials and curriculum support, Subject Librarians are available to assist you in your studies. The library is open 24 hours during weekdays throughout the semester and 24 hours 7 days a week during finals weeks. It also features the Special Collections, the University Archives, and additional student services such as the Writing Resource Center, a technology support desk, and Starbucks. These many features make the library a great place to study on campus.

You can enjoy a variety of dining options at UNC Charlotte. From dining halls to a quick bite between classes, the culinary variety can please any palate. Our two traditional dining halls, SoVi and Crown Commons, offer all-you-care-to-eat meals including vegan, vegetarian, and gluten-free entrees. These eateries are conveniently located in the Popp Martin Student Union and South Village Crossing, both of which are located near our academic spaces and residence halls. In addition to the dining halls, students can enjoy eateries such as Chick-fil-A, Bojangles, Wendy's, Subway, Panda Express, Einstein's Bagels, Starbucks, and Salsarita's. These food selections ensure that you won't go hungry on campus.

University Recreation Center

The University Recreation Center, also known as the UREC, is a great spot for Niners to stay active on campus. The UREC is five stories and 148,000 square feet of designated exercise space. Featuring four multipurpose courts for basketball, volleyball, badminton, and pickleball indoors, indoor and outdoor leisure pools, and over 30,000 square feet of fitness equipment there is something for everyone. Students are also able enjoy multiple group fitness studios, an elevated track, and a personal training assessment space. When you're done working out, relax on the outdoor terraces while enjoying gorgeous views of campus.

Division 1 Athletics

UNC Charlotte is home to the 49ers, who represent the school through eighteen Division I, American Athletic Conference men's and women's athletics programs. With basketball, soccer, tennis, baseball, golf, track & field, cross country, softball, volleyball, and football, there's always a 49er team in action throughout the year. Students are able to enjoy a free ticket to each home sporting event, as well as participate in traditions such as the 49er Way, where the football players, band, students, and fans walk from the Hauser Alumni Pavilion to the football stadium during home games.

With over 1,000 acres, the UNC Charlotte campus offers plenty of green space for our active community. The Toby Creek Greenway, a section of the Greenway system which connects communities in Charlotte, provides students with an outdoor trail for walking, jogging, or biking. Our Botanical Gardens provide outdoor space ideal for relaxing, studying, or learning more about plants and nature. The College of Liberal Arts and Sciences cultivates the Botanical Gardens for inventory, education, conservation, and research on campus. The gardens are open to students, faculty, staff, and the general public throughout the year. Admission is always free, making this space a welcoming and inclusive area.

East Village

East Village is home to 6 residence halls and Greek Village with suite, apartment, and Greek styles of on-campus living. Suite styles are found in Hawthorn Hall and Oak Hall. Apartment styles are found in Martin Hall, Elm Hall, and Pine Hall. Each residence hall contains laundry, kitchen, and lounge facilities for students to enjoy. Located on the eastern side of campus, these residence halls were designed for students looking for more independence, while remaining close to the center of campus. Hawthorn Hall hosts the Engineering Learning Community, and Greek Village is home to many of the fraternities and sororities that students can join on campus.

While most students walk to class, there are various transportation options to navigate campus and to connect students to the city of Charlotte. The campus shuttle bus provides free transportation around campus. Using the NextRide app, students can track bus locations in real time. Travel into uptown Charlotte is convenient with the Lynx Blue Line Light Rail. A stop here on campus provides direct transportation to the Charlotte area. All students - including freshmen - can purchase a parking pass to keep their car on campus. Our proximity to the Charlotte Douglas International Airport makes travel easy for out-of-state and international students.
