Founded in 1963, UMSL is a public research university with more than 16,000 students from around the world. We offer undergraduate, graduate, and professional programs -- including Missouri's only optometry program -- through the Colleges of Arts and Sciences; Nursing; Education; and Business. We also have a Joint Engineering Program with Washington University, the School of Social Work, and the Honors College. We are an urban campus whose reach extends into the surrounding communities and across St. Louis. In addition to traditional programs of study, UMSL prides itself on its support for working adults, transfer students, and others seeking an alternative path to a degree.
Millennium Student Center

The Millennium Student Center is the central hub of campus. Student life and resource offices are located here along with food favorites like Einstein's Bagels, The Nosh, and Subway. Visit the Office of Student Involvement to join one of our more than 100 student clubs, have your resume reviewed in Career Services, pick up your Metro Pass in the Cashier's Office, get help in your classes at the University Tutoring Center, and so much more. The MSC is also home to the Triton Food Pantry, Student Social Services, Technology Support Center, Counseling Services, Health and Disability Access Services, Office of Admissions, and the Student Financial Services.
Lucas Hall

Lucas Hall houses the departments of Communication and Media; English; History; Philosophy; and Crimnology and Criminal Justice. College of Arts and Sciences students meet with their academic advisor on the third floor in the Dr. Marcus Allen advising center. The Student Enrichment and Achievement Office is located on the second floor, and they provide additional support for students through success coaching, monitoring academic plans, helping students to adjust to college life, and more. The Greek Culture Center is also located here. The Succeed Office, located on the first floor, is a student-centered resource that provides individualized support for students with disabilities.

Anheuser-Busch Hall is home to UMSL's College of Business and Administration. UMSL is accredited by the AACSB, the world's premier business school accrediting organization in business and accounting. Fewer than 5% of business programs world-wide have achieved this recognition. Business students can get involved in the many major-specific student organizations and participate in one of the region's best internship programs. In addition to several nationally-ranked programs, UMSL's Cybersecurity program is designated as a Center for Academic Success by the Department of Homeland Security and National Security Agency. Anheuser-Busch Hall is designed with student success in mind with its trading room, tiered seminar rooms, advising suite, meeting spaces, and more.
Social Sciences Building and Express Scripts Hall

The Social Sciences Building (or SSB as it is known around campus) is located on North Campus across from Lucas Hall. UMSL Global is located on the third floor and includes International Admissions; International Student and Scholar Services; Education Abroad, Culture Centers, Research, and Engagement; and Passport Services. Here you will also find classrooms and lecture halls, and a campus computer lab with student printing services and the Math and Academic Writing Center. Express Scripts Hall, adjacent to SSB, is home to majors related to computing as well as the Cybersecurity and Information Technology Innovation Lab and Grace's Place, a museum about computers and information technology.
Clark Hall

Clark Hall, located on the North Campus quad, is home to a number of departments, including Anthropology and Archaeology; Sociology; and Language and Cultural Studies. Clark Hall is host to a number of humanities courses in these and other areas. The Veterans Education and Transition Services office is also located here, and they assist military-connected students transition from the military to campus life through admissions support, GI Bill certification, advising, tutoring, mentoring, and employment opportunities. They also provide a comfortable space for these students to connect with others going through a similar transition.
Thomas Jefferson and Mercantile Libraries

UMSL's Thomas Jefferson Library, or TJ Library, is actually two libraries in one with a convenient coffee shop just inside and shuttle stop outside. The TJ Library is a research library that offers digital and print resources for students and faculty, the expertise of research librarians, and access to things like Interlibrary Loan. The top three floors provide quite, independent study spaces as well as group study rooms. The lower two levels are dedicated to the Mercantile Library marked by the famous glass pyramid skylight. Founded in 1846, the Mercantile is the oldest library west of the Mississippi River and home to unique collections around westward expansion, transportation, and more.
Science Complex

The Science Complex is located on North Campus and includes five buildings: Benton Hall, Stadler Hall, Research Lab Building, Science-Learning Building, and the William Clay Center for Nanoscience and Technology. The science complex is also home to the Joint Engineering Program, a degree program offered through UMSL in conjunction with Washington University. UMSL is a Tier 1 Research institution, and the science facilities house both teaching and research labs in chemistry, biology, biochemistry and biotechnology, genetics, and more. Here you'll also find a planetarium and the Harris World Ecology Center, a biodiversity conservation research center in partnership with the Missouri Botanical Gardens and St. Louis Zoo.
J.C. Penney Building

The JC Penney Building on North Campus houses the College of Business' nationally ranked international business program as well as UMSL Accelerate, an innovation and entrepreneurship catalyst to support students, faculty, and the community. It's also home to the Campus Testing Center, the Center for Teaching and Learning, and event spaces. The Campus Testing Center offers secure and collaborative exam proctoring for students. A full list of their services is available online. The Center for Teaching and Learning is there to assist teachers and learners by promoting engagement and enhancing course quality and delivery. The conference spaces host corporate events, regular meetings, receptions, weddings, and church events upon request.
Recreation and Wellness Center

The Recreation and Wellness Center, conveniently located next to the Millennium Student Center, is approximately 100,000 square feet of space for open recreation, intramural sports, and wellness education. All students have access to the Recreation and Wellness Center by simply showing their Triton Card ID. Faculty, staff, and community members also have access to the RWC for a fee. Not only does the RWC offer swimming, workout machines, free weights, fitness classes, and a two story rock climbing wall, they are also one of the largest student employers on campus.
Touhill Performing Arts Center

The Touhill Performing Arts Center is well known in the St. Louis area for hosting events from the St. Louis Ballet to Bill Nye the Science Guy to comedy shows to UMSL-sponsored events. Tickets are available for purchase by the community and students who receive a discounted rate. UMSL's Music Department and Opera Theatre hold classes, rehearsals and performances there, giving students the opportunity to gain experience on a magnificent stage. The Touhill, designed by I.M. Pei - the same architect who designed the pyramid outside the Louvre - hosts more than 150 events each year in its three performance spaces: Anheuser-Busch Hall, the Lee Theater, and Whitaker Hall.
Fine Arts Building

The Fine Arts Building is located on North Campus and is home to the studio arts and art education programs. Students in drawing, painting, photography, printmaking and graphic design have access to dark rooms, photo labs, technology, and learning spaces. The building also showcases the art and culture of UMSL students and faculty year round. Studio art faculty are dedicated teachers and committed artists. They exhibit regularly in exhibitions of regional, national and international significance, have developed impressive client lists, and are sought after to give workshops on their work.

Mansion Hill and University Meadows Apartments offer on-campus, independent style living options for students. These apartments include on-site laundry, 24-hour on call staff, UMSL shuttle stops, 24-hour UMSL Police patrol and a pet-friendly environment. Mansion Hill offers two different styles of apartments - unfurnished or furnished with utilities, cable, internet, and furniture included. University Meadows offers studio, one-, two-, and four- bedroom apartments. Mansion Hill is located on North Campus, and University Meadows is located on South Campus. UMSL Athletics (Mark Twain)

The home of UMSL Athletics is located in the Mark Twain Athletic and Fitness Center. We are a Division II school and part of the Great Lakes Valley Conference. The Mark Twain houses classrooms and training and game facilities for our seventeen men's and women's athletic teams. UMSL athletes excel both on and off the field earning top honors for maintaining an average student athlete GPA of higher than a 3.3. UMSL's other athletic facilities include baseball and softball fields, swimming pool, tennis courts, and the Don Dallas Soccer field. University Eye Center

The University Eye Center is the College of Optometry's new full-service eye care facility on UMSL's south campus that is also open to the public. They offer eye health services through the Eye Center, including Adult Comprehensive Eye Examinations, Pediatrics/Vision Training, Contact Lenses, Low Vision Rehabilitation, Eye Health Management, and more. The Patient Care Center provides students in the College of Optometry invaluable clinical experience and others across campus free and discounted eye exams, contact lenses, and glasses. The College of Optometry also has a Mobile Eye Center that travels throughout St. Louis and provides eye care services to underserved communities in the area.
College of Education

The College of Education on South Campus is conveniently connected to many resources, including the OASIS Education Advising Center, the ED Collabitat, Southside Cafe, Marillac Hall, and the Technology Learning Center. Students have access to computer labs and printing in the TLC, as well as open spaces to collaborate with others throughout the connected buildings. UMSL's College of Education provides opportunities for hands-on experience each year leading up to Practicum or student teaching. The University's own Child Development Center also employs many prospective educators where they can gain more experience working with children.
Provincial House

Provincial House on South Campus is home to the Pierre Laclede Honors College, Provincial House Dining Hall, and the Office of Residential Life and Housing. Students in UMSL's tight-knit Honors College take innovative discussion- and writing-based courses, work with faculty mentors, and have access to additional scholarship opportunities. Provincial House Dining Hall offers students made-to-order meals as well as takeout options. Students can catch the free campus shuttle at the stop right outside the doors to go to class, the Recreation and Wellness Center, Millennium Student Center, and more. There is also a stop for St. Louis' light rail system – the MetroLink - nearby on South Campus.
Oak Hall

College of Nursing

The College of Nursing, located on South Campus, consists of Seton Hall and the Nursing Administration Building. Seton Hall offers state-of-the-art simulation labs for nursing students to gain practical, hands-on training to enhance their skills prior to starting their clinical rotations. The Nursing Administration Building houses classrooms and advisement. The College of Nursing offers both undergraduate and doctoral degrees, and our students benefit from the partnerships the university has with leading healthcare providers in the region.
