Lord Hall Art Gallery and Classrooms

At Lord Hall, you will find the academic center of the Department of Art. Its gallery showcases a unique collection of exhibits that include original works of art from students, faculty members and guest artists. It is also home to design and digital art studios, classrooms for Art Education and Art History, a lecture hall, and reading and seminar rooms. Raymond H. Fogler Library

The Raymond H. Fogler Library is the largest library in Maine, housing more than one million volumes and nearly 4,000 periodical subscriptions. Located next to the Memorial Union and the University of Maine Mall, the library is the perfect space to set up a study area, and grab a latte and blueberry muffin in its cafe. Services include vending machines that sell highlighters, paper and study materials, and learning workshops at the Fogler Library Computer Classroom.

Welcome to the Maine Bound Adventure Center, home to UMaine's indoor climbing wall and a myriad of recreational equipment. Here, students can rent outdoor gear or sign up for trips to places like Mount Katahdin, Mount Washington and Acadia National Park. Welcome to Class of 1944 Hall. Here, the School of the Performing Arts produces a number of musical and theatrical performances throughout the season. These performances include band, dance, orchestra, ensemble and choral. The Collins Center is the premier performing arts center and concert hall for the region, attracting national and international touring artists throughout the year. Renovated in 2009, the Collins Center hosts the country's oldest continually operating community orchestra, the Bangor Symphony Orchestra, and screens independent movies. The Collins Center also is home to the Hudson Museum, which houses a wealth of antiquities and cultural exhibits, including a world-class collection of pre-Columbian artifacts.

We're here at the Advanced Structures and Composites Center, the technological pride and joy of the University of Maine. The center's 37,000-square-foot Offshore Wind Laboratory is responsible for the development and deployment of North America's first floating offshore wind turbine, VolturnUS. The world-class facility houses 10 integrated laboratories where undergraduate and graduate researchers apply real-life solutions for applications, such as civil infrastructure, boatbuilding, residential and light commercial construction, defense and homeland security.

This is the First Year Area of Campus, where incoming first-year students will find six 24-hour secured access residence halls. At Androscoggin Hall, students have access to the First Year Center, where academic guidance, lounge space and recreational activities can be found. First-year students can become part of one of our Living Learning Communities (LLCs) or Honors housing. New Balance Student Recreation Center

The New Balance Student Recreation and Fitness Center is an award-winning workout facility that is the ranked among the top 10 in the nation. The $25-million building features a three-court gymnasium, fitness center, indoor pool and suspended track. Stewart Commons houses two dynamic centers for new media and visual arts: the Wyeth Family Studio Art Center and the Innovative Media Research and Commercialization Center. At IMRC, students and faculty can fabricate parts on 3-D printers and collaborate in a high-performance computer cluster for video and audio production, animation, 3D design and prototype production. The Wyeth Family Studio Art Center features a suite of studios for painting, drawing, printmaking, photography and design. The Vincent Hartgen Drawing Studio, named for the professor who founded the university's Art Department, is also located here.

We are now at the Harold Alfond Football Stadium and Morse Field, where UMaine Black Bears gather to root on their NCAA Division I teams. With a capacity of 10,000, the stadium is home turf for the UMaine football team, the track and field program, and club sports, such as rugby. Features include a grandstand seating 6,000 fans, and views of the Stillwater River and Mount Katahdin.

If you've heard of UMaine Hockey, you've heard about the Harold Alfond Hockey Arena. Here, students come to watch the university's ice hockey team in action. The arena is legendary. It is at the Alfond that the 1992-1993 and 1998-1999 NCAA Division I Men's Ice Hockey Championship teams made magic. The Wall Street Journal calls Alfond Arena the best atmosphere in college hockey, and Orono ranks 29th in The Bleacher Report's Top 50 Hockey Cities in North America.
