Science and Engineering South

This is Science and Engineering South. It has been called "Lego-like" due to its elaborate geometric design. SES is home to the Physics, Biology and Chemistry departments, The University's Science Library, Science Learning Center and Mathematics Sciences Learning Center.

Science and Engineering South Interior

Science and Engineering South is divided into two wings with computer labs on the first floor, laboratories and offices to the east and multimedia-equipped classrooms to the west. The building's Learning Centers provide students with a comfortable environment to study, collaborate and access tutoring services for challenging courses. The facility also houses specialized laboratory and studio spaces. Even larger classrooms are designed to create a more intimate learning experience.

Engineering Research Facility

Welcome to UIC's Engineering Research Facility. Both students and faculty take part in important research, solving many of society's complex problems - from water to the environment, transportation and more - right here. Modern research facilities include a Clean Room, two Virtual Reality CAVE Theaters and advanced computer labs. Lecture series, talks and seminars are also held in the facility's lecture rooms.

The Quad

The Quad is UIC's central outdoor gathering space, surrounded by the Lecture Centers. On any given day you'll find students hanging out with friends, reading or tossing around a football. The Quad is also the site of performances by the UIC Concert Band, fairs, club events, cultural celebrations and more.

Idea Commons

Here we are at the IDEA Commons, located on the first floor of the Daley Library. The I-D-E-A stands for Information, Data, Expertise and Access, and that's exactly what you'll find here. The Commons is an inviting space to research, study, work one-on-one with a tutor or conduct presentations. The space is equipped with 80 desktop computers and 24 laptops, seminar rooms, a Student Media Lab and an Instructional Technology Lab for faculty.

Lecture Center E

Lecture Center E represents one in a cluster of six lecture centers. It's the southernmost center, located across from Taft Hall. In addition to hosting regular lectures, LCE is home to the Learning Environments and Technology Services Office, which supports all of the school's computer labs.

Lecture Center D

Lecture Center D is one of the cluster's larger lecture centers. It contains classrooms as well as four state-of-the-art multimedia lecture rooms, each accommodating up to 150 students.

Taft Hall

Taft Hall is an academic classroom building linked to Burnham and Addams Halls via sidewalk. These three buildings are fairly similar in appearance, consistent with renowned architect Walter Netsch's design. Taft houses three floors of classrooms.
