Learn how to get involved on campus at the Student Center - the hub of student life. Whether you're looking for coffee, dinner or a snack, the food court has a variety of options. You'll also find a wide selection of study and meeting rooms, lounge spaces, and a game room complete with bowling lanes and billiards. Get comfortable in the Student Center Theater, where you can see movies or events put on by one of over 500 student organizations. And, don't forget to visit the UH Campus Store to stock up on books, supplies, and of course some Cougar Red merchandise. At UH, we always wear Red on Fridays!

Whether you are a first-year student or graduate student, there are multiple on-campus student housing options focused on your success. Cougar Village 1 and Cougar Village 2 are open only to first-year students. Complete with a fitness room, computer lab and laundry room, get comfortable in your new home away from home! There are always plenty of activities to keep students engaged including games, karaoke and movie nights, along with glow in the dark bowling and billiards. There's 24/7 security in each residential hall, in addition to on-duty desk assistants and residential advisors.

University Lofts

Loft-style living doesn't get better than this. University Lofts is for students who have junior standing or higher or are age 21 or older by September 1st. It includes several study lounges, fitness center, free laundry facilities, wifi, a private courtyard, two-roof terrace with views of downtown Houston, and a sky lounge with outdoor seating. University Lofts houses a Cougar Xpress market and a Subway restaurant as well as a pool table, computer lab and special event kitchen for programs and activities. Enjoy the modern, urban look and feel of 10-foot ceilings, granite countertops, exposed concrete ceilings and floors. Furnished and unfurnished units are available with a refrigerator, stove, microwave and dishwasher in the 2-bedroom units.

Healthy mind, healthy body! Between classes, get moving at the Campus Recreation and Wellness Center. So much more than just a gym, this comprehensive facility features a 53-foot tall climbing wall, along with multiple courts for basketball, volleyball, racquetball, soccer and more. The Fitness Zone has all the weights and machines you need to build muscle or increase endurance. Workout or cool off in outdoor and indoor swimming pools. Take advantage of free group fitness classes, intramural sports or even outdoor adventure opportunities, like hiking. The Rec Center also offers lots of opportunities for an on-campus job, such as a lifeguard, fitness instructor, or desk attendant.

Cullen Family Plaza Fountains

Relax to the soothing sounds of water flowing at the Cullen Family Plaza Fountains in the heart of campus. This popular gathering place and study hub honors the Cullen family, whose tradition of giving to UH dates back to the 1930s. Situated between the Ezekiel Cullen and Roy Cullen Buildings, Farish Hall and Hoffman Hall, the water centerpiece serves as a popular photo backdrop throughout the year, especially on graduation day. UH tradition says rubbing the paw on the statue of our mascot, Shasta, brings good luck - whether you're taking a final exam or headed to the big game.

Here at M.D. Anderson Library you'll find three computer labs with printing options. Need to practice a presentation with your team? Reserve a group room online. Need research help? Our subject librarians are here to assist. UH Libraries is also home to a hidden gem known as Special Collections, featuring rare and unique archives in eleven collecting areas. TDECU Stadium

Cheer on the Cougars at TDECU Stadium -- home of Houston Football. The 40,000-seat venue features an exterior of red metal and aluminum panels that allow for optimal air flow and natural lighting into the concourse areas. There's not a bad seat in the house -- especially on the open-air lower bowl party decks. Stadium plazas pay tribute to UH history and the proud tradition of Houston Football. Sitting adjacent to the stadium is the Indoor Practice Facility. Not only does the team practice there, but fans can enjoy climate-controlled tailgating on gamedays!

Fertitta Center

Named after globally recognized entrepreneur Tilman Fertitta, the Fertitta Center is open for all men's and women's basketball home games and women's volleyball games. Your heart will pound with excitement inside the modern 7,035-seat sports and entertainment facility, unveiled in 2018. The Athletics/Alumni Center is one of the finest collegiate athletics facilities in the country, home to a world-class banked indoor track where the Cougars run for gold. Student-athletes from all sports use the center to practice, compete, work out, rehabilitate, study, meet and relax. Amenities include locker rooms and a 16,500-square foot weight room along with the Dominic and Ellen Ng Academic Center for Excellence. Wilhelmina's Grove

Wilhelmina's Grove is at the center of the UH Arts District, connecting the venues associated with the Kathrine G. McGovern College of the Arts, along with the Valenti School of Communication. An abundance of trees characterizes the Grove's serene setting, while concrete seating areas offer spaces for socializing and studying. At night, hanging lanterns transform the space into a perfect pavilion to host events before and after plays and concerts. Also keep your eye out for temporary public art exhibitions here. Moores Opera House

The 800-seat Moores Opera House is arguably the finest university opera production facility in the country. Opened in 1997, it was designed to emulate the acoustic space of old European opera houses while providing the modern equipment demanded in today's world. Boasting an enormous orchestra pit and full fly capacity, it allows performances of the largest operas while maintaining a sense of intimacy. The flexible-size orchestra shell transforms the performance space to highlight the Kathrine G. McGovern College of the Arts orchestras, wind ensembles, choral groups, and chamber music. Look up and discover the popular art installation "Euphonia" by famed artist Frank Stella that attracts visitors from around the globe.

AD Bruce Religion Center

The A.D. Bruce Religion Center is the focal point for many on-campus religious and spiritual activities, offering the campus community a place for both quiet meditation and spiritual growth. It's also a bustling center of many ongoing educational programs and activities focusing on religious issues with an emphasis on Interfaith Dialogue. The Religion Center has two chapels, The University Chapel and the smaller Meditation Chapel which are available for weekend events. The University Chapel is a popular venue for weddings, quinceañeras, baptisms, funerals & memorials, recitals, and lectures. Over 200 weddings are conducted here each year.

Downtown Houston

Downtown Houston is less than two miles away from the university and a Metro light rail line runs through campus making it quick and easy to see the sights and sounds of this booming metropolis. Catch an Astros or Rockets game, grab dinner at countless restaurants, take in a show or visit the popular park known as Discovery Green. In addition, Metro bus routes connect campus to a network of transit centers providing service across the Houston metro area. The University of Houston at Sugar Land is a UH instructional site offering undergraduate, graduate and professional certificate opportunities. Think of it as one university, two zip codes. The campus spans 270 acres, located at US 59 south and University Boulevard, near the Brazos River in Fort Bend County. UH at Sugar Land is home to two inaugural programs in nursing and digital media. The Technology Division at the Cullen College of Engineering has a dedicated building here too. You'll find large state-of-the-art classrooms, computer and multimedia laboratories, as well as a campus library; and a free shuttle service is available for students who take classes at both the UH campus and at this instructional site.

The University of Houston at Katy brings tier one higher education to a growing region, rich in ambition, drive and vision. Opened in 2019, the facility features state-of-the-art labs and studios for students pursuing studies with the UH College of Nursing and the UH Cullen College of Engineering, as well as the University of Houston-Victoria at Katy. Located near the intersection of I-10 and the Grand Parkway, the 46 acres of the Katy instructional site represent support and partnership of the region. Aspiring nurses can get their traditional Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree here while future global engineers can take advantage of the innovative subsea engineering program.
