Welcome to the University of Georgia (UGA), a large research university located on a 759-acre campus seventy miles east of Atlanta, in the town of Athens. Its founding in 1785 makes it one of the oldest public universities in the country. Considered to be a "Public Ivy," UGA is consistently ranked very high for its academic offerings, research initiatives, and overall collegiate experience. UGA is comprised of eighteen schools and colleges, including those for Education, Social Work, Public Health, and Ecology.
