Welcome to the University of California, Merced – the newest campus in the prestigious University of California system. UC Merced is the first American research university built in the 21st century. Our mission consists of research, teaching and service. Before we get started, here are a few tips: a. You can click on the front facing arrow to start walking around our campus. b. University Plaza is our newest development on campus, the third and final phase of the four-year Merced 2020 expansion Project that was completed in the summer of 2020. The project added 1.2 million square feet of space for teaching, research, housing, dining, administration and recreation. It was the largest public-private partnership in U.S. history and created a new main entrance to UC Merced. Fun fact: The 10 palm trees next to the new UC Merced sign represent the 10 UC campuses. Moving forward, we have a chill grassy area for students, our conference center and recreation and wellness center, which we will talk about later in the tour, and finally our administration building (where our Students First Center is).
