UCLA Law houses a beautiful, modern and well-equipped library featuring 600,000 print volumes and access to thousands of electronic databases. The library seats 800, and includes 15 conference rooms and a high speed computer room for law students. The large windows throughout the building let in ample light, giving a feeling of openness. It's a gorgeous place to study or even relax--our circulation desk has games students can check out and a recreational reading room is stocked with fiction and nonfiction books. Our staff of superb librarians thoroughly enjoys assisting students with their legal research and can obtain legal and non-legal materials from libraries across the country when necessary.

UCLA Law has a tight-knit, friendly community, comprised of J.D., LL.M., doctoral, visiting and exchange students from across the globe. Students are collegial and collaborative, and many classmates become lifelong friends. Our administrators share these values and provide a variety of services to students, including academic counseling and support for students with disabilities. Students at UCLA School of Law have access to a dynamic and innovative law school education. Building on the intellectually rich core of our curriculum, students can enroll in specializations including Business Law; Entertainment, Media, and Intellectual Property Law; International and Comparative Law; Public Interest Law and Policy; Critical Race Studies; and Law and Philosophy.

Welcome to the A. Barry Cappello Courtroom! Students use this state of the art facility for simulation-based trial practice courses, and to participate in mock trial and moot court competitions. The U.S. Court of Appeals for the 9th Circuit holds arguments here each year, so perhaps it is no accident that UCLA Law has more graduates serving as judges on the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals than any other law school in the country. We host a variety of moot court competitions in fields like international law, cyber crime, and sexual orientation and gender identity law, and we send students to moot court competitions around the world.

UCLA Law offers an unparalleled classroom experience for students, with our more than 200 faculty members teaching both sophisticated legal theory and practical skills. Professors are committed to their students' personal and professional growth and development. They routinely take students to lunch, and many hold seminar classes in their homes. Students tailor their course of study to fit their individual interests. They may pursue one of our many specializations, take classes in other UCLA departments, earn a joint degree, study abroad, earn course credits working for a non-profit or government agency, or do an independent study. Whatever your interests, you will find avenues to pursue them at UCLA Law.

Since pioneering clinical legal education in the early 1970s, UCLA Law's Experiential Learning Program has charted a path of innovation and excellence. Typically, more than 45 experiential courses are offered each year in subjects like international human rights, business deals, sports law, criminal and civil trial advocacy, intellectual property, and environmental law, to name a few. Our faculty members are leading scholars in experiential education and have written some of the most frequently used books in this area. Hungry for an even broader range of hand-on experience? Students may also work with a judge, government agency, nonprofit organization or in-house corporate counsel through our externship program.

UCLA Law's experienced career counselors help students identify employment opportunities, prepare resumes, and prepare for job interviews. J.D. students participate in a robust on-campus interview program. LL.M. students can pursue externships, attend career workshops with industry professionals and alumni, and participate in tailored UCLA and New York University interview programs. All students are invited to government and public interest career fairs, and to employer networking events such as the Annual Diversity Reception, the Law Firm Sneak Peek Reception and the Small and Mid-Sized Law Firm reception. The Career Services staff also assists students and alumni seeking post-graduate judicial clerkships.

LuValle Commons houses a food court, a coffee shop, and the law school bookstore. Students can pop in for a bite to eat, grab coffee with a professor, or hold a study group under the trees. There are a number of other eateries and campus amenities close by, including a fully equipped gym, beautiful pools and tennis courts, and numerous performing arts spaces. Of course LA itself is a cultural and economic epicenter, boasting over 300 museums, 80 theaters, and leading industries such as technology, international trade, film production, financial services, health sciences, and fashion. LA also offers beautiful beaches, hiking, leafy parks, and arguably the world's best climate.

This is the Ralph and Shirley Shapiro Courtyard. When the weather is pleasant, which is almost every day, students come here to relax under the Redwood trees, eat lunch, get some reading done, or socialize. The Courtyard is the center of student life here and makes a great venue for meetings and events hosted by our nearly 50 student organizations and 13 student-run law journals. Our strong and active alumni network of more than 15,000 participates in the alumni mentor program, interviews students, and networks with students at campus events. Alumni with J.D. or LL.M. degrees live in virtually every U.S. state and in more than 50 foreign nations. That concludes our UCLA School of Law Tour. Thank you for stopping by!
